Scared of being scammed

So I am about to buy a wayyy to expensive hoodie from someone via paypal. He really looks trustworthy and has rather good reputation. But he asked me to send the money via gift, and I wanted to know if there is any possibility for me to get my money back if he doesn't ship the hoodie? Thank you in advance.

I've been a 10+ year member of paypal and eBay...have been a top rated seller and a power seller.

I had sold a $1,500 item on eBay. 2 months later, the buyer filed a credit card chargeback. Paypal was unsuccessful in recovering my funds and now I'm left with no item and no money. Paypal tells me there's nothing they can do, and that it is up to the credit card company. They also told me they can't force a return. This is the last time I'm using paypal. Cut your losses and get off this flawed platform. Paypal has no interest in protecting their sellers.
