It's good that you reached out to us regarding this matter. The Fraud Alert you received is valid. You can click it and cancel the transaction if your not familiar with it. Always remember that in the US phone numbers are being recycled. It is possible that it might have been sent to you in error.
Hope this helps. Have a nice day.

Good day @TraceyMeaney1

I hope all is well.

Without looking/knowing what phone number the text came from, I can assume that it wasn't from us. PayPal will only send you a text message confirming a payment that was sent to your phone number not the payment that you sent and/or attempted. We usually communicate via email for all the payments you sent using your PayPal account.

Just a healthy tips: Logging into your PayPal account is the best way to understand if there's action waiting for you. Any kind of action or notification waiting for you is either displayed on the account summary page or you'll see a notification waiting for you in the bell icon that either directs you to the message in the Message Center or Resolution Center. If there was nothing in your PayPal account someone was trying to scam you.

I hope I was able to answer your question.
