Purchase of goods between two private parties.

I'm about to make my first purchase using Paypal. I am purchasing goods from a private party selling them online through Face Book Marketplace. The seller will be shipping the goods to me and I will be covering the shipping cost. Do I have an protection/assurance through Paypal? How should I work this transaction? My concern is what if I send the seller the money and the package never arrives or it arrives but turns out to be not what I agreed to purchase?

That depends on 'many' factors all listed in Paypals buyer protection policy for you to read and then you can risk assess your own transactions.

You're not giving a direct answer to the question - only telling the OP where he can go to MAYBE find an answer.    What are some (at least) of these factors?

Or if you want me to state the factors then I would need to go and copy/paste the buyer protection policy on to here.

Why would I bother to do that?

I advise folks where to go to get the information that they need to read up on.
