Power of attorney and accessing my mother’s account

My mother is 91 years old and has mild cognitive impairment. I have power of attorney over her affairs. She has a paypal account that she hasn’t used in quite a while and somebody tried to phish it today. I forwarded the offending email to spoof@paypal.com. I tried to access her account but I don’t know her password. I thought I knew the answers to her security questions, but i guess not. — my answers aren’t working. This problem totally defeated the call center — they insisted that my mother remember things like her previous street address.  I do need to access and probably close that account.

it’s in general INFURIATING that help systems like PayPal’s imagine that they can categorize all the problems  that users will encounter.

i think  I need an actual SUPPORT EMAIL ADDRESS to which I can email power of attorney documents to establish my bona fides for accessing my mother’s account.  Any ideas?

PayPal don't give out direct customer service contact email addresses or phone numbers. You can try to contact as guest caller or write to their legal dept.

For assistance with this, please contact customer service as Guest, since you’re locked out of your account:

  1. Click HELP at the top menu
  2. Scroll down and click CONTACT US
  3. Scroll down to click CALL US
  4. Click PayPal Guest option

Please do not be logged on to any account when accessing the guest option as PayPal won’t discuss an account through another account.

PayPal legal dept addy (3rd paragraph):

https://www.paypal.com/us/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full?locale.x=en_US#communications

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
