Hi,
I've just noticed this notification in my web browser. It reads:
"The SSL certificate used to load resources from https://www.paypal.com will be distrusted in Opera 57. Once distrusted, users will be prevented from loading these resources. See https://g.co/chrome/symantecpkicerts for more information".
The headline of the referred to document reads thus:
Distrust of the Symantec PKI: Immediate action needed by site operators
The article was dated, March 7, 2018.
Would be nice if PayPal could both clarify and rectify this matter as soon as possible.
Currently I'm using Opera as my preferred browser. Opera is based on the Google's Chrome engine. I'm running the latest version of Opera - 54.0.2952.51 and this version of Opera is based on Chrome/67.0.3396.87.
I suspect this is a PayPal issue and not a browser issue? Any clarification will be helpful.
TIA - Ting

You may run into this with other sites, not just PayPal.
Here's some info gathered from the internet:
Many web based services including PayPal are or have been updating their site security Transport Layer Security – or TLS – from TLS 1.0 to TLS 1.1. The Transport Layer Security (TLS) is a cryptographic protocol used to establish a secure communications channel between two systems. It is used to authenticate one or both systems, and protect the confidentiality and integrity of information that passes between systems including things as email, Internet faxing, and other data transfers. To ensure the security of your personal information, your web browser also needs to be compatible with the new protocol. Browsers that don’t support TLS v1.1 or v1.2 will not be able to view any site that has upgraded to TLS 1.1.
The following browsers support the security changes and no action is required on your part:
Internet Explorer 11 (Desktop & Mobile)
Internet Explorer 8,9,10 (Desktop – Compatible but not enabled by default)
Firefox 27 and higher
Google Chrome 38 and higher
Google Android 5.0 and higher
Safari 7 on OSX 10.9 (Mavericks) Desktop and higher
Safari 5 on iOS 5 Mobile and higher
Edge
The following operating systems are not compatible with TLS 1.1 or higher and it's recommended that you upgrade your operating system to a supported system:
Windows XP
Windows Vista
Server 2008
Server 2003
Notes:
* If you're currently using Internet Explorer 7 or earlier – You must upgrade your browser
* If you're currently using Google Chrome – You must have have Windows 7 or a newer operating system
* If you're currently using Firefox version 26 or earlier – You must have Windows XP Service Pack 2 or newer
* If you're currently using Safari – versions older than 7 on OSX 1.9 (Mavericks) – TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2 are not supported, so you must use Google Chrome for MAC

I am now suffering from this.
My website has a forum which has various sections.
Some are accessible only by paying subscribers and ofc the payments are done via PayPal.
However if you try to access these sections via a link, you are unable as to get there you need to go through the PayPal SSL.
PayPal really need to chnage their SSL provider or there are going to be a lot of people taking their business elsewhere.
This loss in revenue will be a lot more than the cost of a new SSL.

I have spoken with 2 people at PayPal.
One knew nothing about the issue and they were pretty adamant if it was an issue they would know about it and as such did nothing.
The other person I had to e-mail and they sent me a crappy reply that completely ignored my question and gave a stock answer to a question I never asked.
So, anyone know of alternatives to PayPal?
