I am shocked that when a friend sent me $1000 US I was charged $37.30 US to accept it! What is with that? I looked it up (after the fact) and it said the charge was 2.9% + 30cents. I think THAT is too much as it is...so where did the $37.30 come from?? What a ripoff. When he first tried sending it to me, he was going to be charged $15. Why the discrepancy????
Unhappy with Paypal, will look for other options.
Am I wrong? Thanks for listening and any input.

Firstly was it an international transaction with the higher fee?
Secondly if it was a friend gift payment and not a payment for goods or services then why would he select the goods/services option to send the funds?
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
