Action required: Confirm your info to keep a PayPal Balance

I received an email with a subject titled  "Action is required":  Confirm your info to keep a PayPal Balance.  Before I proceed, would someone confirm if this is a ligitamate email from PayPal?  The action also request that I provide "Paypal" my social security number. Again, I would like to know if this is a legitimate request from PalPal?

I had the same thing happen to me, except mine told me I needed to update my profile information. It also stated that my account was temporarily suspended and if I did not provide information required my account would be suspended for good. I went on my phone, as this is where I noticed the email and it wanted a bunch of information. I was very worried over this. Beware of scammers please everyone. Do not give any information to anyone. When in doubt, please call pay pal direct.

Hi @Minta and @tdharg,

Thank you for your posts! There are emails being sent to advise of changes required in accounts, but it's always wise to be cautious, because you never know if fraudsters are jumping in to pretend to be PayPal.

If you log in to the PayPal.com website by opening a browser window and typing in the URL, you should see a prompting for action. This is one way that you can confirm that the email that you received is legitimate. Following a link in an unexpected email to provide information can be avoided this way, and that's always the safest course of action.

I hope this helps!

Olivia
