Previously confirmed addresses now showing as unconfirmed

Hello all,

There have been quite a few topics on this issue recently so hopefully I can clear up any questions you may have on it.

Over the last week or two we have noticed an issue on customers accounts in which their previously confirmed address is now showing as unconfirmed. This is an issue we are aware of and have our engineers working to fix as soon as possible. As you can imagine, the PayPal system is very complex so we do not have a timeframe for this.

In the mean time I am sure some of you are worried about Seller Protection and how this issue impacts your coverage. In the past there was a need for a Seller to ship to a confirmed address in the Transaction Details to be covered under our Seller Protection Policy. This is now no longer needed. Shipping to a confirmed address is no longer a requirement under our Seller Protection Policy, you can post to buyer addresses in any of the 190 countries where PayPal is accepted and be covered.

I can tell that you are new to this discussion.  Suggestion:  Read this topic from beginning to end.   The unconfirmed address issue is not new.   If you can figure out how to fix it, please let the rest of us know.

As with everybody here, I'm in the same boat.  Somehow, an address from 5 yrs ago was sent to the seller as unconfirmed instead of my current address and my item was sent to Florida.  I'm in Texas.  I can't seem to get the 'Contact Us' page to load so I can contact PayPal (rather convenient, huh?).  Does anybody know if there's anything I can do or am I just **bleep**ed out of my $$$?  I don't really want to open a dispute because it wasn't the seller's fault, it was PayPal's.

I have tried EVERYTHING to regain my confirmed home address which I have had for seven plus years. Paypal now tells sellers my home address is unconfirmed!! I have over 2,000 positive feedbacks and ZERO negative yet some sellers will not ship to me!!

Same thing here. Address is showing as confirmed in my profile, but the transaction still says "unconfirmed". WTF??? It has been FOUR MONTHS now that this issue has been acknowledged by PayPal!!!

You can always call paypal customer service, they will tell you how to get your address confirm. Usually it happend when you credit card address do not match the address on your paypal account.

i have this problem too. paypal, you should post a message regarding this on the website to inform your customers since you obviously cannot fix this problem in a timely manner. i shouldn't have to search for the solution to this problem in a forum when you know this problem exists.

i've never seen a problem like this last for 2 months on a financial website. that's pretty shameful and whoever is charge of this problem needs to find another job b/c he/she isn't doing this one right.

I just sold an item BIN and it seems to indicate the buyer paid.  However, when I go to see if I have received money, I get in that circle of **bleep** everyone below is talking about and can't confirm my email address.  Is it safe to send the purchaser his item?  This is not an expensive item but I do have some of those up that will be ending soon and wish this would be fixed before they end.

It's now mid-August, and this still isn't fixed. I'm getting stuff ready to sell, and I have always only accepted PayPal. Now that this has happened AND it's still not fixed 3 months later, I'm seriously considering using another service. Not only do I not want to pay PayPal their cut, but how do i know whether to sell to someone?????

I have paid PayPal too much money when I sold stuff on eBay to be treated like this. I think that everyone needs to think really long and hard about how much we've paid them, then decide whether 3 months is long enough for them to fix this. I'm in the software business, and I know how long it takes to fix a bug when fixing it is a priority. Obviously, OUR integrity is NOT a priority with PayPal.
