Withdrawals are 2-72 hours in the U.K.
https://www.paypal.com/gb/selfhelp/article/why-is-my-withdrawal-on-hold-faq2990
However I used to find that if i withdrew straightaway then it often took longer but if i waited a while then it was instant.
I presumed that this was because when a buyer pays from their bank account its never instant > paypal credit the seller upfront and then paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer from the buyers bank account (they use the slowest/cheapest option) so that is why they do this.
So when you withdraw those funds its paypals funds you are withdrawing and I reckon they delay them to allow the buyers bank transfer to play catch up. I reckon 72 hours is about time to be sure a transfer will not fail from the buyers bank account and so release your funds?
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Withdrawals are not 2-72 hours for me they are 72 hours EXACTLY. It is ridiculous and I will be making a complaint to the FSO. When I go to do the withdrawal it says "Immediate" until after I actually click the final button it says it is pending with no way of reversing the withdrawal unless you phone PayPal. They CAN reverse your withdrawal as they have done for me in the past as they KNOW what they are doing is not allowed but the T&C of PayPal are so long they can basically do what they want with your money and get away with it. If you want to use eBay your stuck with PayPal which was why they had to separate as a company. PayPal your not a bank stop acting like one - oh wait my bank have NEVER held any funds for "security" reasons EVER. They have found a system that works without them getting scammed PayPal need to sort one out too.

Yep its normally about 2 hours or dead on the 72 hours so 2-72 hours.
Feel free to complain to the FSO or FSA or whoever as they approved paypals user agreement in the UK with that hold in it.
And you tend to only get the 'hold' if you withdraw your funds instantly. This is because when a buyer pays you funded from their bank account then its never 'instant'.
Paypal use the slowest (cheapest) transfer option BUT credit you the seller upfront, this is so there is no delay in the despatch of the buyers item.
Paypal then wait for the transfer of funds from the buyers bank to reimburse them.
So if you withdraw immediately its paypals credited funds you are withdrawing and so they sometimes put a 72 hour delay on it to allow the buyers bank transfer to play catch up.
If a bank transfer is going to fail then its normally in that 72 hour timespan, so once past the funds are released.
Advice is voluntary.

I have this problem too. Every single time I try to withdraw there is some reason it has to take 3 days.
And no one can help at Paypal. I'm done with them. There are so many options out there that don't play games.

Hi there,
Welcome to the PayPal Community.
Withdrawals can take between 2-72 hours to complete. This is something you may wish to keep i mind before receiving funds to withdraw going forward as there are no plans in the near future to change this. Apologies.

I think your response to the question we are all asking; "Why Every withdrawal is Pending" was golden. My business partner and I are having the same issue withdrawing funds from our PayPal account to our bank account. There is a real question to be answered here for PayPal, in my opinion. #PayPalWithdrawalComplaints
