Words cannot describe how ANGRY I am.

Hi,

Today, I've almost given up on PayPal.

I moved from the US to the UK. And I have $334 US Dollars on my paypal account. Since you cannot change countries, paypal simply asks you to create a new account. Ok, thats fine. Made a new account, decided to transfer the entire sum.

I get the message, "We're sorry, you need to verify your account". Ok, I can only seem to verify with a US mobile phone. Right, I don't have one since I've moved countries permanently.  I have a quick look on paypal support, it needs a US Bank account or a US number either of which I don't have anymore...This starts to get frustrating, I cannot use or transfer any of my money. I start getting the message  "We're sorry, something went wrong, please contact paypal support".

OK. I call paypal support, go through secuirty just fine, give her my SSN, my details, address etc. All seems well and I'm the rightful owner of the account. She says herself that since I've logged into the account from a foreign computer it will flag it, again which is completely understandable and want the issue fixed asap so I can transfer money (That I've earned from online work).

She quickly tells me "We need more secuirty done" so she transfers me to another lady who asks me very specific questions based on my public records in the US. Again, I answer them correctly 100% to verify my identity.

She then goes on and tells me that she'll do a "refresh" and then I can transfer..but if that doesn't work, I'll have to do it when I'm "back in the US"..."Um excuse me, have you been listening to what I've been saying? I've moved countries permanently". Well, suprise, the "refresh" doesn't work..Then the lady has the audacity to tell me to FORGET ABOUT THE ACCOUNT AS SHE CANNOT DO ANYTHING and then hangs up...WOW.

OK SO PAYPAL HAVE MY MONEY YET NO ONE CAN HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE AND I SHOULD JUST FORGET ABOUT MY MONEY ON THE ACCOUNT AND MOVE ON.

Thanks a lot PayPal.

The idea is that you withdraw funds from your old paypal account and remove all cards etc attached to it and close it BEFORE you move.

Then you open another one in your new country.

If your account has been limited because security flagged it as coming from another country to what your paypal account is in then its unlikely you will be able to transfer those funds now.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I have said it before, and I will continue to do so.  Paypal pretends that they are doing everything for "your protection".  In actuality, everything they do is for "their own protection".  How the **bleep** can a payment processing company justify keeping people's money?  If they do this to one tenth of their customers, this equals a cute little scam with paypal making a **bleep** fortune.

DO NOT LEAVE LARGE SUMS OF MONEY IN YOUR ACCOUNT.

DO NOT LINK YOUR PRIMARY BANK ACCOUNT.  IF NECESSARY, OPEN AN ONLINE ACCOUNT, DEPOSIT $50 AND LINK THAT BANK.

KEEP IN MIND THE MENTALITY OF THIS COMPANY.  STAY ONE STEP AHEAD OF THEM AT ALL TIMES.  THEY ARE DOUBLE CROSSERS, SO YOU MUST BE A MASTER DOUBLE CROSSER.

Out of curiousity, have you tried just spending the money? To be fair, I've never tried using my paypal account to buy something while out of the UK...

I had my bank/Federal credit union block Pay Pal completely since they refuse to let me cancel my account. Basically, they are completely untrustworthy.
