New Experience Paypal Website.

Awesome...  You know what I love?

Waking up in the morning to go check out my Paypal, eBay, and banks on all their various websites, and finding out that one of my professional (presumably) business websites has been taken over by some kids and turned into some Disney-Twitter-wannabe-site.

I don't know about anyone else, but when a company makes radical, overnight changes to a site I use every day to deal with my money, I get irritated.

When I first logged in, there was only one option on the bottom for changing back the website to the 'classic' version.  It literally said, 'view classic site'.  However, it was not the classic site.  It was some mock version of the classic site and only showed the summary page.  Changing pages instantly took you back to the kid version.

I ended up calling Paypal, and upon their instructions to refresh back to the main page and look for a new option to 'opt out', I found it and was able to opt out of the 'new (kid) experience' and return to the classic, adult site.

I don't understand why they did it that way.  You should never be assualted with such changes upon log-in with no announcements or guide as to what the changes are and where everything is.  Maybe I want to take a look at the new experience...maybe I'll like it (well, I'll never like the bubbly, kiddie crap layout, but maybe it was feature-rich), I don't know, and I don't think I'll find out because the opt out seemed pretty final.

Considering my tone and explaination to the representitive on the phone, as well as the feedback from the opt out pop-up, and my follow-up feedback submission, I believe Paypal has a pretty good idea where I stand on this issue, but for some reason I wanted to create a message on the community board as well.  Go me.

What was your 'new experience' like?

I so agree, why fix something that is not broken, now I have trouble even withdrawing from paypal to my bank account, classic does nothing. I hate hate hate this, now it takes me longer to do anything on paypal. First they force us to use paypal, we have no option, now paypal doesn't let us get the money we work hard for,

I hate this new layout. It is confusing. Does anyone know where I can find where to pay my PayPal credit card? I've been looking for a while and can't figure out where it is.

OK, some of us actually understand why the changes.  The "Classic" view was tied to the backend in such a way that making changes or new enhancements to the options and features was to say the least a challenge (or nightmare) from a programmer's perspective.

The "New View" or Interface is actually not bad, and yes it is a change and therefore a leaning experience for all of us.   And yes, you will have whiners who hate change and that's part of the process.  (Don't be a whiner - it's like 2nd grade and they're out of chocolate milk - been there.)  The New View allows the programmers to make changes to the system in a way that could not be done before which is a good thing.

However, throughout this process we have lost some functions that were actually useful.

For example, we can no longer "archive" records in our Account Transaction History.  This was a useful feature for some of us.

Next, we now have limited functions for exporting or downloading our Account Transaction History Records. Whereas in the past, we could export or download a years worth of history, we are now confined to 31 days at a time.  What's up with that as it now requires 12 separate downloads to get your year.  Gee, no PP Engineers thought about that.  This is typical as the Engineers and Programmers just don't think the same as the average business owner (who is not a programmers nor engineers).

There's more points that could be made here, but I think folks get it.   Just thought I'd toss this out there for some comments.

Frankly let's retire the subject that the "New" view is hated, stupid, or what ever and move on.  It's here -- let's focus on how to make things better for everyone (or at least most of everyone).

While I can (almost) appreciate your comments about not whining about what's 'new' at PayPal, I don't give a **bleep** about the programmers' problems. PayPal should be focused on CUSTOMER SERVICE, not their internal trials & tribulations. I'm sure they can find excellent programmers who can overcome any problem, including putting Man on Mars. They're losing sight of convenience to the CUSTOMER, which the 'classic' format almost achieved ~ there were still some problems navigating the 'old' site, too. Instead of improving the customer experience, they have ~ without any customer input ~ just created a monster of a site to deal with.  After I pay off my credit account with them, I'm leaving.  Besides, the interest rate is what used to be called usurious.

For the love of god people like I don't have to deal with ...I hate the new and not improved paypal.  There not logic to design ..spend time I don't have going in circles looking for things that we all on the opening page before.  I mean seriously who designed this worthless crap.  Guess I'll start processing my own payments.  Idiotic to fix things that aren't broken

Anybody annoyed with the new beta shipping "experience"? While I have to admit that it is pretty, it is worthless. Here's some of the issues:

1. Doesn't pick up weight or shipping service from the eBay listing (classic page does).

2. Doesn't allow putting an invoice number on the label (classic page does).

3. Doesn't list what you're actually shipping (classic page does).

4. If you accidentally try to create a label you've already created, it doesn't tell you (classic page does).

There's probably more, but I haven't actually tried to use it because it is so poorly designed.

One other thing that sucks is that you have to switch from the beta "experience" to the "classic" experience every time. There doesn't appear to be any way to tell the system to just continue to use the "classic" page until they drag you kicking and screaming to the new "improved" shipping "experience".

Add to the list that the new beta shipping site does not allow one to enter a zip code for the shipping locaion other than my address. I travel and routinely drop shipments off at various post offices. I'm pretty sure this will lead to shipping time estimates as well.

And now it won't even let me switch back to the old create label page. Just goes into a do-loop when I select to go back.

Absolutely useless - we're having to select a default shipper each and every time - even though it is clearly in our profile.

Further, the Beta page requires 7 more clicks to create a label - BIG step backwards.  PayPal developers brought the April Fools early this year with their lunk of junk create shipping label page.

Interestingly, their minion assigned to our account can't "see" our "experience" and therefore can't help us, but wants us to take on additional features - that she probably can't see either.

PayPal - listen up - we ship well over 3000 packages annually - and will be going to another shipping service just to avoid the new "Beta" Create shipping label page that is absolutely a piece of junk, too disjointed, and requires too many additional clicks, brings up an error page, and is unavoidable (clicking on the switch to classic brings up the choose default shipper page=FAIL)

We should not have to choose a default shipper each and every label - that's what a profile is for.

We shoud not have to click an additional 7 clicks to print a label.

We should be able to switch to the classic shipping label page without error or redirect.

We should receive feedback, and our opinions should be listened to.
