Proof of Address Loop of Screaming

About a year ago I edited the address section of my profile. I just wanted to capitalize the T in the street name. This activated an account issue that required a proof of address. Despite uploading a valid proof of address, Paypal was unable to recognize it after several attempts. I gave up, as it didn't seem to effect my account whatsoever.

Fast forward to yesterday and I am suddenly unable to access anything because of this issue. I upload a bank statement, but Paypal is again unable to recognize the document type because it allows for only two document types -- a Driver's License (I can't drive), or a Utility Bill (which are not in my name). After messaging contact support I am told that, yes, my issue can be resolved by uploading a proof of address, and paypal accepts any item on this list here.

A yes, I have some bank statements, let me just upload th-
a very sad list.JPG

Well, this is confusing. Customer support is seemingly telling me something different from the coded robot handling my upload. My bank statement is neither a driver's license or a utility bill, which is why it isn't being recognized. Customer support's answer to this is that, yes, I do in fact need to upload a proof of address, and, yes, a bank statement is a valid proof of address. And the cycle continues. Any idea what's going on here?

Hi @Heckler,

Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community Forum!

In general, as you have already mentioned, a bank statement is accepted as proof of address. You can upload the bank statement as either 'Driver's licence' or 'Utility Bill' as this would not make the document invalid. We would still review it regardless of the label that you choose.

I hope this helps.
