I'm sorry to hear about the trouble inputting your phone number. Is this during a security check? Do you have the option to add a number and it gives you an error, or does it not let you enter the number at all?
If it's telling you the number isn't registered in your name, it means the phone bill isn't under you, and we're unable to verify it. This could be a business phone, a prepaid phone, or a phone with a bill under a friend or family member's name.
If it's giving you a different error, or you're not able to enter the number at all, this may be a website issue that we need to look into. Please contact us so we can have this escalated for review. Thanks!

It's not a phone number, it's an EIN to confirm charity status, which I also haven't been able to enter for a week now. Please fix this.

We are having this same problem. In order to receive non-profit rates, you must verify EIN and provide proof of bank account. But the EIN screen does not allow for the inputting of numbers, and therefore EIN can't be verified. This is clearly a website formatting issue. I've also tried using multiple browsers with no success. At this point, it's basically impossible to verify tax exempt status online. Please fix immediately. This problem effectively renders paypal useless to non-profits, lest they voluntarily pay the higher fee.

We are having the exact same problem. When I try to enter the EIN to confirm charity status (despite the fact that the EIN is linked to the account), it won't let me enter it. I called PayPal yesterday, and after getting a hold of an agent, he assured me the EIN was there. I let 24 hours pass (thinking it might be a system verification issue), but when I try to confirm my charity status (for the 10th time), it will NOT let me enter the EIN. The letters "EIN" are there, but you cannot change/edit them with your number, and you cannot click "Next." I have been on hold (again) for 45minutes now and have yet to speak to a PayPal service representative.
If you have a solution, please let me know!

I ultimately called the customer service number and had them manually enter my EIN. That worked.
But we also think we found another workaround. Even though I entered my EIN when I opened the account, it was not showing up when I clicked Profile > Profile and Settings. At the very bottom of the "profile and settings" page, there is a place to enter your EIN. Ours simply showed all X's. As soon as the customer service person manually entered our EIN, that field populated. I have a feeling that I could have done that same thing from the profile and settings page.

I am having the exact same problem, but even that workaround did not work for me. The EIN shows up in my profile, but Paypal is still asking for it, and I can't type it into the field. Tried calling, but the wait time was 1.5-2.5 hours!
Paypal, please fix this!

This is definitely a PayPal bug. I just signed up to receive donations and am having the exact same issue.
