Private Account Configuration

Hi, I'm trying to understand how I need to set up my account to prevent people from attempting to identify me. I would like to build an online presence where I can make and receive donations, but avoid any malicious users from using chargebacks or information shared as part of the donation/tipping process to identify myself or my home address. Is this possible? My reasons are simply to protect the privacy of my young family.

Thank you

Hello @PlayerLGPlays

Welcome to the PayPal Community!

I understand you'd like to learn more about protecting yourself while using PayPal. If you have a business, you can open or upgrade to a PayPal Business account. This will allow you to operate under a business name. I also recommend using an email only associated with your business, as your PayPal email can be displayed to the customer for customer service questions.

Regarding your question about chargebacks, chargebacks are dispute cases filed with the buyer's bank. When these are opened, we do not have a say in the case and legally have to provide all requested information by the bank. However, your personal information should not be provided to the customer without your permission or knowledge. This also applies to any PayPal disputes.

I hope this helps to put your mind at ease.
