How do I delete/reassign my primary phone numbers?

My account has two primary phone numbers, mobile and home:

Primary home: My current mobile and home phone number

Primary mobile: An old mobile number that is no longer active

How do I remove the old primary mobile number?  The account settings will not let me modify either of these numbers without first registering a new number (that I don't have).

This is a problem because PayPal is still using my old/inactive mobile number for two factor authentication.

I do understand your concern regarding updating of contact details into your PayPal account. Request you to kindly refer to this article to understand the process on how to update your phone number into your PayPal account https://www.paypal.com/us/cshelp/article/how-do-i-add-and-confirm-change-or-remove-a-phone-number-on...  and please note you can only remove a phone number if you have at least two added to your PayPal account . You can reach out to our customer support team to know what can be done next or to get an understanding of the possible solution to the issue raised. Please reach out to the Support Team by clicking the contact us option at the bottom of PayPal page. If your unable to login into your PayPal account do reach us via phone and kindly select "Call us as Guest"

But paypal will not let you add a new number until it contacts you on your old number that is dis-connected?

How do I confirm my phone number?

Here's how to add and confirm your phone number:

1. Go to your Settings.   
2. Under the "Phone Numbers" section, click + Add New (or Change next to the phone number you want to confirm if you're updating your number). Stay logged in and don't exit from the window.
3. Enter the phone number and select the phone type.
4. Click Add phone number.
5. Choose Text you a code or call you to confirm.
6. Enter the confirmation code and click Validate.

This works fine until you get to line 5 where it wants to send a text to your OLD number not the one you just entered, old number is not in use anymore so 2 factor authentication will not work.

So the answer to this question is "contact support"? I have the same issue and can't delete my old home phone number. I do not have a home phone any more.
