Hi Guys,
Nice to meet you here.
I am starting a side hustle, so I don't have a business license already, can I use a business Paypal account for receiving money? Later if the business goes well, I'll register for a license.
My planned income will be small for each transaction (1-2 US$) and the amount will be many. But it is only an estimation. I am starting an online side hustle, which could either be successful or not. I understand personal PayPal account may have restrictions on receiving a lot of payments. So I registered a business Paypal account, but it asks me to upload a business license, which I don't have for now. If the business goes well, I'll definitely register one. If not, then I will not bother to do so.
Does Paypal support this kind of side hustle? I don't have too much now on a formal company setup. Here it is complicated to register.
Can Paypal let people receive a certain amount and then ask for a business license? Or else it will be hard for me to start
Thanks,
Scott,

Hello @scottlai,
Thanks for posting your first question in the Community!
I understand you'd like to learn more about receiving payments through PayPal to determine if we're going to be the right fit for you. PayPal allows a large variety of different business types to operate. To determine if what you'll be selling is allowed, I recommend reviewing our Acceptable Use Policy and User Agreement. You can find them by selecting 'Legal' at the bottom of any PayPal website.
If you're able to determine that your business venture is permitted, you can create a personal or business account. Typically a personal account is used for buying items and paying back friends, but you can also accept Goods and Service payments. A business account is more commonly used for established businesses that are already registered. If you start with a personal account, you can always upgrade or vice versa. Please note if you choose to downgrade a business account, you can do so only once.
I do understand you have already created a business account, and that's okay. You may have received a limitation requesting more information. If we've asked you to supply documents you do not have, you can type a letter explaining why you do not have them. You'll want to include as much detail about your new business as possible. Then, upload that information in place of what was requested in your Resolution Center. This does not guarantee the limitation will be lifted, but it can help. You can learn more about limitations on our Help Center here: How do I remove a limitation from my account?
I hope this information helps, and good luck with your new venture!
