Just created a business account from India, and not letting me add Indian address.

Just created a PayPal account with a new email. It is not letting me add my Indian address and redirects me to the USA site.

 

In the verification menu, only USA states are listed, and Indian states are not visible, even when I select India as the country for my mobile number. It also does not let me add a proper mobile number.

 

What to do?

Sounds as if you have opened a U.S paypal account instead of one for your own country?
Go to the settings cog next to log out and check what NATIONALITY is showing on the left side of that page, is it for your country or not?

When you click to register a paypal account there is a drop down list of countries with U.S being the default top option as Paypal is a U.S company.
You then have to scroll down and click on your own country to open the correct Paypal account for that country.You can't use another countries Paypal account as it would never work properly and may be limited.


If you have opened a U.S paypal account by mistake then you need to remove anything you have added and close it (if you can) and then open one for the correct country you are in.
Paypal is country specific and differs a lot country to country.

This is the reply I got from PayPal contact support. This is ridiculous. Just because I forgot to check the dropdown menu, now I cannot change my details.

 

Account settings do not open, it shows a popup menu where we have to accept business type and fill address, which I cannot do because it is showing only USA states. When I am trying to close an account from profile settings -it says I cannot because it is limited.

 

I have to use this very email for PayPal as I am using it for my website, what do I do?

Reviewing the details, I find the account is a US PayPal account. You can't add Indian address to a US PayPal account as PayPal doesn't support using a different country's PayPal account from another country. The account is limited which wont let you close the account. In this case, I would recommend you to create  a new account as per your country location using a different email id .

 

Here is my reply to her -

I already have an account in India. I need to add this email to that account, so I need to close this account. Help me in that.

I cannot block this email as my website is running with it. So please close the account from your side.

 

It does not make sense that customer care cannot close the account.
