I am also based in Malawi and I have been trying to verify my account but with no success. And I am assuming that you did yours. How did you do it?

@kernowlass, first if all my PayPal is linked to my Visa Debit Card not credit card. However, someone sent me money in January this year and the money was automatically transferred to my card at the beginning on February. Doesn't this mean that my PayPal is already linked to my Visa and that it is functioning properly? Secondly, the information that is provided on the link that you have shared do not talk about verification of PayPal. Am I missing something here?

Some visa 'debit' cards may be accepted, country dependent.

But to verify you would probably need to add a visa credit card as per link.

Hello @IanSim

I have an update for you.
I recently visited my local bank. I went to the forex department and learnt that they have recently implemented a new security protocol. They have not publicized it to the general public. Not sure of the reason behind that.
One has to fill in a specific form to activate one's Visa card for foreign transactions every 30 days. One has to state the purpose of the activation and country of origin for the transactions.

Not sure if this is a mandate from the central bank or if it is just my local bank.
Hope this solves your issue.

Just tagging you guys to share the update for future cases- @kernowlass and @PayPal_Meghan

Good day everyone.

I have now been verified. I just had to remove my card and link it again using the following steps that i got from Customer Service:

In order to have verified PayPal account, the customer needs to Add and Confirm a credit or debit card on his account :
- Here’s how to link and confirm your card:
- Log in to your PayPal account.
- Click Wallet at the top of the page.
- Click + Link a card or bank.
- Click Link a debit or credit card.
- Enter your details and click Link Card.
- Click the new card and then click Confirm Card.
- We’ll charge your card $1.95 USD. This charge and a 4-digit PayPal code appear on your card statement within 2 to 3 business days. The code sequence appears as PayPal*1234CODE or PP*1234CODE. You will need the first 4 digits to confirm your card.
- After the card is confirmed, we will immediately refund the card. Your card issuer will credit your card balance within 30 days from the date of the refund.
- To enter the 4-digit PayPal code to confirm your card there should be a notification on your home page. Otherwise:
- Log in to your PayPal account
- Click Wallet near the top of the page.
- Click the card you're confirming.
- Enter the 4-digit PayPal code from your card statement and submit.
- Kindly note taht once your Card is confirmed your PayPal account will be automatically verified
