Closing a PayPal account to link an email address

I would like to add a new email address to my PayPal account but it says that it is already linked to an existing account. If I close that "existing account", will I be able to add the email?

If the account is closed and not just limited then yes you 'should' be able to re-use the email address.

I would give at least 72 hours after closing the old account before trying to add it though.
