It is known that there is a possibility to chat with a payee. Is it possible to delete chat messages again?

Thank you for your post. Please be informed that currently we do not have an option to chat with other account holder on PayPal. If you have the contact information of the other PayPal account holder, you may reach them through any other platform.

Do you mean message another user on this forum?

Only paypal does not have a user to user chat function, maybe you were using another site like Ebay?

But there is a chat function at Paypal. It is not available for business transactions. However, it is available for transfers to friends or family.

Hello @peterwyss, welcome to the PayPal Community Forum! Thank you @kernowlass and @manju_ for your help so far on this thread. 

 

I'm sorry for the confusion so far everyone, I actually had to check on this feature myself to see if it was possible. It looks like there's an option to message the recipient or sender of a Friends and Family transaction under the "Contact Info" section of your Transaction Details. After a bit of digging around, unfortunately it doesn't look like I see an option to delete or clear that chat.

Thank you @PayPal_JonK for this clarification. But now it happened that such a chat message, which was significant for me, suddenly disappeared. What could be the reason if the person who wrote it can not delete it?

Welcome back! Great question. I couldn't find anyway to delete the messages, and even after a refund it looks like the messages are still there. They weren't under the "refund" transaction, but I could still see the option to message the receiver under the original transaction in my Activity. How long ago were the messages? It could be after a certain time-frame (90 days or so) the messages may archive themselves. 

 

I'm sorry I couldn't find any specifics on this. It is a relatively new feature, and if I find anything else out about it I'll make sure to update this thread.
