Change of name (Nickname to Full Legal Name)

Hi!

Activated my PayPal account since 2018. Although was inactive. Now, wanted to use it especially since I'm about to link it to my personal account. However, the name I used was my nickname and not my full name. With that my transaction of linking it to my bank account can't push through. I'm from the Philippines and have uploaded my identification card. However, I cannot provide the required supporting documents (marriage contract -- I'm not married; Deed Poll - I don't have one since I don't reside in EU). With that, how could I change my name having just 1 document to submit?

Appreciate your responses on this.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

There should be 3 options to changing a name. Some countries might not.

- Using a legal name after marriage, divorce, etc.
- Updating your name (for example, using your full name instead of a nickname)
- Making a minor correction of 1 or 2 characters

You want the “Updating your name” or “Update your name” option as per:

If the option is not available, you’re better off closing the account and open a new account with full name, if your account is not limited or not blocked from closing.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Can I add that the nickname has to be something like Rich instead of Richard for it to be approved.

If its a totally random nickname then its unlikely to be changed.

Thanks for the response, @sharpiemarker :), just a follow-up q: if I'll close my account, could I still use the same information (and change it to my legal full name) when I open my account?

@kernowlass -- the nickname I used isn't just a few letter shorter of my first name. So I think I'm getting @sharpiemarker's advice on closing it and making a new one.

ok, good luck but you may find if you can't verify it then it will stay limited and you won't be able to close it.
