Cannot add registered email address to primar email address field of PayPal button

We have several email addresses registered and confirmed but when creating a new PayPal button the email address we wish to use in the "Use my primary email address" field does not appear. All the others do but not this one. I've tried asking PayPal but there's been no answer after more than two weeks.

Forget this request! The email address in question had been confirmed but was showing as not confirmed. It took two more attempts today to finally have it showing as confirmed!
