Just 2, not 4 digit verification code

I've received the deposit from PayPal in my account but I don't see a 4-digit code.  I see only 2 digits.  It looks a lot like the line may have been truncated as it's longer than mentioned in the docs:

"CREDIT FROM PAYPAL REFERENCE XX"

(where XX are the two digits).  Another answer on this board suggested waiting for the "paper statement" but I don't get paper statements - they're not even an option with this online account.  I can see a different form of historical statements but to be honest they seem even less likely to be useful as on these the text stops at "REFER", not even finishing reference...

Any ideas?  I'm more confused because I've used this account for years with PayPal and it's only just "disappeared" from my list, needing to be re-verified.  ISTR last time it was just the normal 2 small deposits.  Is there any way to use this method instead?

Has to be 4 digits for credit card, bank accounts are two deposits.

Best you can do is contact customer support for assitance.

Hi snowshoe, thanks for the reply.  However, this is not a credit card, it is a bank account, online with Cahoot.  As I mentioned at the end of my original message, this is an account I've used with PP for years and it always was verified, and that original verification was by the two deposit method.  It suddenly disappeared from my account sometime last week and now when I've tried to re-add it, it's being treated differently.

I'll get in touch with support.
