My son sold a camera on or about 3/10/10 through his boss at work ..my son said at the time that his boss does it all the time and has the paypal all set up etc...so he had them post it on e bay and it sold! for $2100 ..so i askd him when he gets the money and my son said there was a hold on the money he can expect it by 3/31/10 ..I called my son and asked did he get the cash he said the boss told him that the money was going to take 4 more days to clear....Does that make sense???
supposedly the boss does use the paypal from time to time...Does anyone think this sounds a little strange?
What sort of documentation should the boss have that my son can ask to see?
I have a strange feeling the company is using his funds for there own use ...and my fear is they will come up with some sort of BS that there was a problem and there's no money!!!
someone please give me your views on this ....help!!
thanks
jim

What probably happened is PayPal put a hold on the money for 21 days and then once it gets released, the boss still has to transfer it to his bank account, so that your son can get his money. Transferring to the boss's bank account should take 3 days. Add an extra day to get the withdrawal for your son.

Section 10.6 of PayPal's User Agreement explains the 21-day eBay Item Hold Policy... here's the text and a link to that section of PayPal's user agreement...
10.6 eBay Item Hold. PayPal, in its sole discretion, may place a hold on a payment you receive for an eBay transaction when PayPal believes there may be a high level of risk associated with the transaction. If PayPal places a hold on your payment, it will show as "pending" in your PayPal Account.
a. Release of eBay item hold. PayPal will release the eBay item hold after 21 days unless you receive a Dispute, Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal on the transaction subject to the hold. PayPal may release the hold earlier if either of the following applies:
b. The buyer leaves positive feedback on eBay, or (ii) PayPal can confirm delivery. PayPal will confirm delivery if you use USPS, UPS or FedEx to ship the item and (i) use PayPal shipping labels, or (ii) upload tracking information to PayPal via the transaction details page. This applies to US domestic transactions only.
c. Additional hold period. If you receive a Dispute, Claim, Chargeback, or Reversal on the transaction subject to the eBay item hold, PayPal may hold the payment in your Account until the matter is resolved pursuant to this Agreement.
