Why does the "buy now" button HTML, only provide a link to "log in'?

Why does putting a "buy now" button on my website, not show customer how to "check out"? All it provides is a link to paypal and then has the customer log in to their account. Then what? How do they "check out"? How do they know where to send payment? How do they see the price and shipping that I had entered to create the "buy now" button HTML?  Shouldn't it take them to a "check out" page of some kind with the prices I had entered and their shipping address, etc?

We can't help you unless we see what you have done.   If you provide a URL to the web page that has your item button code, perhaps we can get you going in the right direction, else, there's not much we can do.

If you are using the online button creator to generate your item button code and assuming your PayPal Account is setup properly, then the code generated is all that you need for eveything to function properly.

Also, have you perused through the following user guides which can be found here?

Merchant Setup and Administration Guide

Website Payments Standard Integration Guide

These guides are quite informative and will answer many of your questions.

Also, check out the info here as it explains how the various item button code types work.
