PayPal emailed me that $150 was charged on my account for 5m chiips to Zynga Game Network. I don't know who this is or what 5m ships is and would like to dispute it, but can't find a place on PayPal help website to dispute a charge I didn't make only to dispute a ebay charge that I made that didn't turn out right. Where do I go and what do I do about it.

Its no time wasted to call Zynga. If it were my company - i'd want to know that my name was havin' its @ss dragged thru the mud with accusations of fraud and theft and causing people financial grief thanks to hackers.
Now if Zynga are behind this - well then they are gonna hear from some extremely unhappy people.
I also filed a Paypal Unauthorised Transaction Dispute - but while waiting days for them to get their act going - the stories can be told - others can be warned - people can take some precautions to safe guard their accounts. This happened to my Paypal January 3rd - its now January 6th and so far all i have heard from Paypal is an email with the instructions on changing passwords and such and to scan my computer for spyware or call a technician and so on( as i wrote in my above posting ) all the logical common sense sh*t that should already be done when working online with computers.
Look at some of the stories told - some people didn't get their $150 back and some had second attempts to take money out of their Paypal accounts.
This is our bank accounts we're dealing with - our identity and it is worth the time to look into who's caused this, who's involved and to get it resolved.
I wonder how many disputes were / are filed with Paypal - when the actual transactions happen, they say " Zynga Game Network " now why wouldn't Paypal do something about this - stop this, get proper verification when they know there are disputes and false transactions being made with that company name ? This is not as if it's the first time this is going on.

Blimey! I am in UK and they've tried to take $150 from me as well! I dont have a facebook account or play online games so its a mystery to me. I'm not impressed with paypal who seem to be saying that the onus is on me to sort it out, I thought that was their job! I called my credit card last night but relevant department was closed. Will call again today. I've emailed Zynga and was encouraged by their response confirming they;d be in touch, not quite so sure now having read other posts!

I contacted Zynga the day I saw the $150 charge on my paypal (mine was showing as a charge to my paypal debit card) , that was the 29th. Today I got an email saying they were refunding... so that whole thing about it being a hacker making it look as if it were zynga doesn't appear to be true in my case.
We have researched your issue with your recent transaction and are currently in the process of issuing your refund. Please allow 10-14 business days for the funds to appear in your account.
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we resolved this matter.
Best,
Zynga Customer Support

Sounds promising! Will keep fingers crossed and everyone posted. Hope others do the same. I've also sent paypal an email saying how disgusted I am that this is obviously a common problem but they are still expecting individuals to sort it out themselves!

For anybody who wants to call Zynga Game Network. I suggest everyone does. Push this issue.
They are in California, USA. To call them
In USA of course its 866 820 2321
From Australia dial 00111 866 820 2321
From the UK to call United States 001 866 820 2321
Select Option 3 ( which is Billing )
When you get someone - ask for the Fraud Dept, when they ask why - explain your story about the unauthorised transactions thru Paypal using Zynga company name. They will ask your full name / maybe address too
- don't give it - they don't need it for any reason.
I just said my first name and what country i'm in and the story of what happened.
Push the issue - be polite but firm of course and suggest they take some notice, tell their supervisers and Fraud Dept and refund / void this ASAP. Repeat your story - make them hear your point.
I did create an account just for now on their website so only as to communicate with them easier and they can view what you've sent them while on the phone with you all i had to do was tell them the email address ( you created the account with ). Don't worry - i never used my last name or any personal details in the account creation.
Just : username, email, country, first name, and a letter just to fill the last name section.
The only things they'll need to look up this unauthorised transaction in their records.........is the date, maybe the time, the amount, description of item purchase and the invoice number.
Please post how you do with that ........... Good Luck.

I am from india . I received an email yesterday (05/01/2010) stating that a payment of $150.00 was made to 'Zynga Gaming Network'. This payment was made completely without my knowledge or authorization. I have send a email to Paypal and related my story.. I also send an email to Zygna and received only an email from the Zynga billing department (whom I contacted) requesting that I provide additional information, such as a Item cost , invoice ID etc. I have also complaint to my bank. I have also filled a dispute with Paypal for the $150.00 and now wait for them to do the right thing. To those who have the same story let us work to keep the pressure on for correction and resolve, so that this activity is both stopped, prevented, and lawfully punished. If anybody got the Refund . Kindly let me know so that I may able to process the same.

hello folks. I spoke to my credit card compnay this morning. The 'transaction' has made it thrui to them but it is still just an 'authorisation' attempt rather than an actual debit. Until they actually take the money they cant dispute it (whihc is basically what paypal said). However they have noted the situation and have assured me that if Zynga do try and take the money, I will not lose out.
I have also had a reply from zynga as follows:-
Thank you for contacting Zynga.
We apologize for any confusion that this may have caused. Occasionally a payment made through PayPal does not make it all the way from PayPal to us. These transactions are automatically voided by Paypal and Paypal should be releasing your funds back to you very shortly.
Because the payment never made it to us, if you have any further questions on this matter please contact PayPal as they have the most complete record of your transaction.
I really havent a clue what they are on about!! I;ve replied asking them how the incident happened, but dont hold out much hope of a lucid response! However more importantly I'm hopeful that I'm not going to lose out (or am I just naieve!!)

I got mine the next day after I got that exact same note you got. I am sure that Zynga gaming fraud department is investigating this since they are having to refund so much money. Paypal was no help at all in this... Today I got a note saying they can't help me because the money was already refunded by the merchant. Ok, thanks for nothing. I really would like them to hold every $150 charge that comes through from Zynga.... I think the pressure should be on Paypal moreso than Zynga.... it seems to me that the connection on all these false charges no matter what charge card account they are through is Paypal.... mine was a paypal debit card but I assume from the other posts that yours were just regular visa cards that you have connected to paypal ?
