Need help with dispute by buyer

I had a listing that ended Saturday night, November 28, and I sent an invoice to the winning bidder. I was notified by Pay Pal that paynent had been made yesterday -- Tuesday Dec. 1. Today I received a notice from Pay Pal that the buyer had opened a dispute because the item has not been received. The buyer also wrote me an e-mail today saying that if I'm not going to send the item, then she wants her money back. I had already printed a mailing label for $4.80, so I voided it, and now I have a negative balance(-$4.80) in my Pay Pal account.
I went to the dispute resolution site and requested that a full refund be sent to the buyer. The information went through, but it indicates that it's being held pending funding to remedy the negative $4.80 Pay Pal account balance.
There has been a bank account attached to my Pay Pal account for years, but the resolution center says that I need to confirm it, which could take 3-5 days, since I didn't feel comfortable giving my bank account ID & password to get it instantly confirmed.
My questions:
* Why does giving the buyer back her $12.00 have anything to do with the negative balance in my account?
* Once the bank account is confirmed, will the funds ($4.80) be drawn immediately and applied to my Pay Pal account?
* Can the negative account balance be funded from a credit card? Since the buyer doesn't seem to understand about waiting until payment is received to ship the item, I'm not sure she'll understand that she'll have to wait on a refund.
* If waiting on the bank confirmation is the only way, when could I tell the buyer to expect to see her refund posted on Pay Pal?
* Is there a better way to take care of this? I'd like to get it done quickly and settle the dispute that the buyer opened in Pay Pal.
Thanks so much for your help! It's been awhile since I've listed anything on ebay, but I've never had any problems buying or selling. So, I'll appreciate all the expert advice you can give!
