How Can I Refund a Buyer More Than the Original Purchase Amount?

I sold an item to a buyer, the buyer requested a refund, and I agreed. The buyer has agreed to mutually cancel the transaction so I may get credit for the FVF charges. I told the buyer I would refund the original purchase price, the original shipping price, and the return shipping price. When I went to process the refund through PayPal, it would only let me issue an amount equal to or less than the purchase price. How can I refund the buyer's return shipping charges also?

I also have this need.
I'd like to refund more than the credit card purchase. Can't send them $ via PayPal in most cases as the customer does not have a PayPal account (and wouldn't want to go through the hassle of setting one up for a small refund). Is there a way to send money beyond a purchase refund?

If it will only let you refund the purchase price, send the rest to him using "Send Money". Just put in the message box the information that it is a refund of whatever (shipping both ways, or anything else). You could just use Send Money to handle the whole thing if you wanted to, but if you do PayPal won't refund their part of the transaction (their fee). They'll only refund their part if you do it through the refund function.
