Help...updating my cc # with a relatively new email

I am trying to send money though paypal.  When I try to add my checking account # I get a message that says the # is already assigned.  What I think is happening is that a few years ago I had a Paypal account.  I haven't used it and now have a new email and credit card.  How do I straighten this out?

You would have to contact Customer Service for assistance.
