Help!! Frustrated trying to get flat rate shipping up and running on multiple, different items!!!

Hello - 

     I have a website that I am putting Add to Cart buttons on.  All is fine, except for I offer a flat rate shipping no matter how many different items the customer selects.  

For some reason if the "Quantity" of the SAME item goes up, the shipping stays the same - that's good.  But when they select another item from the same page...i.e. a blue short sleeve T-shirt, then a black long sleeve T-shirt, then a white hoodie - it adds the shipping 3 times (once for each item) instead of leaving it at the flat rate for all 3 items.  Any suggestions would be great!  ~Thanks~

I'd go to the Help forums for the specific type of shopping cart - there are so many out there that there may be a specific solution.
