Because the shipping costs are included in the funds.  If I have no access to the funds cause of the hold, then I have no access to the money the buyer pays for shipping.

So then... 3 days after Paypal realizes it got delivered which means 5-6. or... whenever a buyer decides to leave feedback, which in the case of a bulk buyer can take weeks. Awesome. Good thing I only sell every few months through eBay. I can't imagine what this is like for people that sell all day as a business.

Couldn't agree more this is total bull**bleep**. And now here I am on the day my funds are scheduled to be release and they aren't being release. WHAT THE **bleep**!?

  Thank you everyone for your comments. As a new pay pal, ebay seller this explains a few things. I started my auctions ant .99, hey I love a good auction...I thought I would do this till I got several good feedbacks then work towards opening a store....I'm not so sure about that now..I have sold about 30 items, and money wise, I am in the hole....between the shipping that I seem to always under estimate, even using the "calculator" and ebays fees and pay pals fees, when a bidder does take the bid for .99 I loose.  I thought the feedback was just a courtesy, to let everyone know who has earned the right to be called a good seller or buyer,  NOT a requirment for payemnt. OMGosh how terrible. If you see an item of mine selling for .99 please don't bid on it,  I would rather donate it to charity first...... Is there another auction site that is there for the sellers and not as I have been reading.... FOR THEM SELVES ONLY????

well I won't lie I have misjudged shipping a couple times but I learned what I did wrong. there is a fluke in the international shipping you have to list your item then go in and revise the shipping after it is listed and only then does the item description page show the international shipping stipulation. Ialmost always now  choose calculate by location in both fields.

another thing is whatever you use for packaging and the items exact weight together  so you can enter the actual final weight into the mail wizard or the package description.

this works great for me feel free to hit me up with questions I may be able to help. And sell your things for what they are worth relatively I have done that since I started listing things true and fair and sold almost every item except the 2 I have listed currently, although I do despise the cash hold, they should change it to like thats how it works until you get like a 15 positive feedbacks then release the money immediately after that. that would probably stop the pop up scammmers and theifs I think.

I cant even explain how upset i am with Paypal. I have a 100% feedback and every time i sell something the funds are put on hold. I called them and "Dave's" exact words were "if you contact the buyer and tell him to leave you positive feedback then we will release the funds in 24 hours" He said Paypal is protecting the buyers. How in the **bleep** are they protecting the buyers if the buyer has to leave a positive feed back before they even get the item??? I asked how they could do this? He said they are doing it to all the sellers that sell high risk items like cell phones and electronics.. which i assume is almost half of all sales if not more through ebay. I then told him i was probably going to delete my Paypal account.. instead of him trying to retain me and all the money they made off me over the years, he gave me detailed instructions on how to go about deleting my account!! lol this is so crazy. There has to be an alternative. I am all done selling until there is!!

I just want to add my two cents into this. I have a case now where I sold to a foreign buyer right around Thanksgiving. The shipping must have been a little slow, so he opened a case. Foolishly, I hadn't reqested tracking (used the basic service, which I advertised- always treated tracking as something the customer should request/buy). Now, the item was shipped awhile ago and the funds had been processed (and the shipping used from that). Paypal froze a later transaction until the dispute is over, and the buyer wont reply or leave feedback so I have to wait the next couple of days and hope the case closes. He could potentially escalate, and I'd be out the money and product.

Also, combined with ebay, they sure do make a killing don't they? Ebay dictates max shipping and handling charges. Let's say I sell a video game- they say I can only charge up to $3. Now, let's say I am selling a collector's tin box release. Shipping usually costs me $2 and change. Packaging/cushioning costs a couple of more bucks. And now with the near-mandatory need for tracking, that's extra money on top- but I can still only charge $3.

I'm starting to think Amazon is the way to go. On larger-value items I actually take on LESS in fees than in Ebay, which hits you for as much or more for insertion-and Amazon charges this only if their is a sale-, roughly the same in FVF, and you don't have to worry about processing through Paypal and paying their fee on top. I also think their return/refund process is 30 days, so this 45 day run around isn't so much of a problem.

 DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WE CAN TAKE MONEY ORDERS OR ANY OTHER PAYMENT? IF SO HOW DO WE GO ABOUT IT?

IS IT AGAINST EBAY WHEN TWO PEOPLE AGREE TO IT? THEY SHOULD HAVE THAT OPTION.

AHHH BUT THEN THEY DON'T GET ANY MONEY FROM THAT..

I REMEMBER WHEN IT WAS OUR CHOICE IF WE WERE PAID OR PAID SOMEONE WITH MONEY, CASH (IFFY) AND CHECKS ETC. AND PAYPAL DID NOT EXIST.

BUT NOW THEY HAVE US OVER A BARREL AND IF WE SIT HERE AND TAKE THIS WE WILL BE FOOLS. THEY ARE GOING TO FIND THAT EVENTUALLY THEY WILL LOSE A LOT OF PEOPLE THIS WAY.

Why have they taken your posts away? I am a new seller and I am totally aggravated with Paypal and Ebay. It seems they do not care about the smaller sellers and could care less if they make it on Ebay or not. . I am a seller with limited funds so I might not be around for very much longer. I can not afford to wait so long for money that belongs to me and not to Paypal. I really wish Google would begin an Auction site. Ebay would be blown away. There was an online petion to Google requesting that they begin an auction site. I signed it awhile back. If anyone is interested you might Google online petition for Google to begin auctions and see if the online petition is still around and sign it. Ebay and Paypal would definitely rethink treating all of their customers in such a outlandish way. We are all being taken advantage of and they have us over a barrel by keeping our money for such a long time. I guess if we choose to continue selling on Ebay we will have to put up with them. I am looking for an alternative to Ebay. Any suggestions?

Think of it from the buyers' point of view., holding payment from the seller is safe because in my case the seller jumped the gun and tried shipping to the wrong address. I would been out $120.   This policy is to help protect the buyers from over zealous sellers.
