From Now On I Am Not Going To Ship Items If Funds Are On Hold.

Because the shipping costs are included in the funds.  If I have no access to the funds cause of the hold, then I have no access to the money the buyer pays for shipping.

IF you are doing no business on ecrater, I would guess that is your fault..   It reminds me of a mall in the area, I walk through once a month, all the dealers sitting around talking and laughing and complaining about no business and I asked them if they are doing anything to stimulate business.  They have a dead fish look on their face and say, "DUH WHat, OR no ONE IS COMING IN".  i Chuckle as I have sold several things in the week for mega dollars and don't have a store.  It is good to get experience by working for someone before you go into business, that is how you gain experience and learn.  It wasn't too long ago when people became an apprentice before they invested in their own business and if more would do that, they would benefit.

I don't wait for someone to run into me somewhere, nor do I infringe on anyone else's business, I invite people to purchase things I KNOW THEY WILL LIKE.  That is your secret to success, because a large percentage of ebay listings are never seen by the right person, (2 MUCH STUFF LISTED) and I would hate to guess how many blistings do not sell, but I think it is staggering if you only knew.  So, wasted money, time and what else is new.

ebayers should send an email to everyone that has purchased from you and  invite them to your new store. haha

Less time it would take than relisting all that didn't sell on ebay, no?

The fact is known in all business circles, the faster you turn over merchandise, have money in hand to reinvest and sell again, the more money you make...If you have to wait a month for your money while paypal holds it, you are losing BIG TIME.   When ebay stopped allowing you to post NO PAYPAL payments, i Knew this was not a good thing and that was several years ago...They persisted in making paypal the way to pay.

Unfortunately, there is no business in the world there is not some loss in. Thus the reason for a profit and loss statement is protocol accounting.  So, we can take our losses but I can't take the loss Paypal is foising off on me. Can you?  It is another way for them to increase their profits, now that the economy is on the decline.

I read something in New York papers today, " PeopLE ARE SPENDING LESS AND  DOING MORE"

I didn't have to read in the News Paper, people are learning a new way of life............All have not caught on yet, or joined the millions who are going to a More Simple Life Style.

I lost an Apple Computer with a virus while using ebay when someone sent me a picture, I mistakenly opened.  To get a virus on Apple was not easy...... So, I guit ebay until I learned more.

This policy is very unfair.  The only one that's benefiting from this is PayPal Smiley Mad   and it makes things very difficult for sellers.  I had to pay for some recent shipments out of my checking acct that sent me into overdraft which in turn is costing me a LOT of money....so im in the negative any way you look at it.  I'm very upset about this considering I had more than enough funds in PayPal to cover it. Seller's have very little policies protecting us.  Also my rating would be a lot higher if buyers would even care to take a couple minutes and leave feedback.  If they did, I wouldn't even be in this situation. These policies are ridiculously BIASED!  Thanks, PayPal.

Yes, Phoenixrain.

You are getting it!!

I am reveiwing the situation and making changes, are you?t

Just imagine if they are holding $100 for 5000 ebayers?   That would give them a nice balance to invest in overnight foreign funds for financial gain.   Maybe their cash flow is in such a decline, they have to do something, huh

They should have spun off the antiques and art business years ago, since the employees know little about either, and alot of other items.

I suppose their real estate and motor sales are defunct with the economy and they were counting on it.

So, let us know phoenixrain when you make some changes.

Best wishes in 2010.

I am still reading all of your comments.  And, I am so grateful that all of you opened my eyes before I went through the trouble of listing all of my items on E-Bay.  And, I was told by several local dealers that  I should do so after they looked at pictures of my items.  I have since made sure that THEY don't make that mistake again.  I am telling everyone that  I know or encounter to come to this forum and read your comments.  I would hate for anyone as naive as I was to get involved before they understand that their money is going to be used, at their expense.  And their ability to make money will be severely limited.  It would be best to find another venue.  Thanks again everyone.

I completely agree, I had an auction end that was supposed to be US only. The winner was from Brazil and rather than relist the item, I checked out his feedback and decided to ship it anyway. It was my first (and last) international order.  I shipped the item on Dec 11 and was told D/C and insurance was not avail due to it going out of country.  So I was shipping $15 out of my pocket on blind faith.  Paypal was holding my money for the item until Dec 31.  On Dec 28, he open a dispute and says he never received the item.  He says if he doesn't have it by Jan 6, he is requesting a full refund (Paypal is still holding funds bc of this dispute) Now when you check the customs number I was given online, it states that it was accepted at the post office but no further info is avail.. How can they grant him a full refund when I have proof I shipped the item in the first place? He says if by some chance it got held up with customs bc of the holidays, he will just repay for the item......am I supposed to believe that as well? I am out a $400 item and the $200 I sold it for? What sense does that make? If I had shipped it here, Paypal would've required insurance in order to get their refund when I had proof of shipment.

I also have been ripped off by this lousy policy and have lost customers due to this. I am sorry but if an item costs $60 to ship, I am not paying out of my pocket if there is a chance that the customer will file a dispute and get the money back. I know of people to have filed false claims and stolen back their money. PayPal is so ridiculous over the security that they are forgetting about customer service. Merchants are there biggest source of income and when we all start closing our accounts, maybe they'll wake up. I am also looking into the legal part of things. PayPal is not a bank and has no right to hold anyones money unless it is actually due to them.

Hello Musicman and Welcome to "WISEMEN" group.

You are right and you wont need to get into legalalities  with   paypal  just cut your money flow to them to ZERO!  When enough people do this, they will get the message.  MONEY TALKS is the Wisemen motto!

Second motto is , TALK is cheap, and anyone can talk, but put your money where your mouth is!!

Don't allow anyone to use your money unless you give it to them.

Notice how difficult it is to reach a real person on PAYPAL, now?

They have a list of babbles to legitimize holding funds, but makes you wonder?

MANY corporations would collapse if there was a run on their stock.  Same with banks!

In fact, if there was a run on stocks, banks, and  people quit spending for 30 days, the whole economic system would collapse.  haha

Become your own banker, and make your commodity GOLD.

These holds and other actions taken here by PayPal and E-Bay sure looks a lot like a desperate companies last ditch effort to make the books look good for a pending sale, trying to either get as much as they can or just get it sold before having to file for the big "B".  And I am sure sooner or later someone with be held accountable for all this.  Who knows.  They may all get bonuses like (corporate living accommodations at a Fed. Pen.) 'cause current actions taken by these guys can't be legal. BTW

I like that last comment.  Talk is cheap.  I'll commit to stop buying and selling for a predetermined time to get EBay's attention.  So that when all of us talk it becomes a Hugh expense for them in loses.
