From Now On I Am Not Going To Ship Items If Funds Are On Hold.

Because the shipping costs are included in the funds.  If I have no access to the funds cause of the hold, then I have no access to the money the buyer pays for shipping.

hey dragon!! I think listing items under $10, or more like $3.99 will be fun...  We all have some books, junk to unload and why not unload it and let them use our funds?  hahah  A friend told me she was going to load 150 items under $5.00 because she is having a clean out sale at her place., sorat after the Christmas clean up.  It sounded like a great idea when we have time to do it.  Just nickles and dimes and they can hold the funds for 21 days and see if it helps raise CASH.  A nickle and dime here and there will only take a couple of million to raise some money.  I suspect ebay's and paypals legal fees are more than that a month, what say?

I agree this is an effort to raise CASH and perhaps fix cooked books?   ebay is on the New York stock exchange and stocks made Meg Whitman, a multi millionaire or is it billionaire?   You know, she is the last ceo...... She will have enough money to get the nomination, but not my vote.   In any event, she is running for Governor of California and I think I will vote against her if she is a runner.

So, whatever is going on with ebay, perhaps advertising their huge sales and profits is a business ploy and I can't imagine how they could be doing so well, when I see less buyers and more sellers..   LISTING FEES WERE BIG BUSINESS AND if you add up the cost, the shipping, fees and merchandise, DID YOU REALLY MAKE A FAIR PROFIT?

Do at all times what is best for yourself...  IF you list some small items instead of donating them to the local thrift stores, you make enough for a coffee or 2 and it sounds like fun,   Wait until they have the free 5 listings you supposedly get each month for more fun. lol

HI All, I posted a few days ago and wanted to update. Joining the official class action  is an option, search online or contact your attorney for the latest information,  thousands of plaintiffs are on the books, However I will make this an after thought because it will most likely not generate any real monetary return for us and we really do all need to just move on and leave these "people" behind. The market place will take care of them.

We have decided to  setup accounts with 'ecrater' and 'online auction" (OLA)  using Paymate (temporarily) but I am changing my main merchant gateway from paypal pro to cardaccept/SecurePay and we are integrating the carts into our sites now. We have (2)  estores that sell outdoor gear and other things (not connected to ebay). We are heading into ecrater and OLA to see which one works best or maybe both, OLA has a great estore builder but you need to get in on the founders membership to make it worthwhile and its still much more economical that the ebay listings and ebay store. Besides the money ebay/paypal has cost our companies with the funds hold, the fees for listing and the ebay store has been very expensive. capitalist  had it right when he said basically do what makes you money and ebay/paypal can no longer make us any money. We have hundreds of listings ready for 2010 and we decided to close our ebay store permanently and NOT LIST any further items on ebay. We are listing everything with the other sites. Concerning the funds hold, we were very upset and angry and wanted to tell someone what we thought about the situation but here are the facts, ebay and paypal do not not care what we think so why should we spend any more time with this group of corporate "folks" with small minds, move on and make money and you will have the last word. I know it is a shame that we spent all these years being loyal and not slipping around behind good ole' ebay's back and doing everything by the book and now we get slapped for it but thats life. Our company will continue to do everything by the book but it will not be the ebay/paypal book. Remember the sites we mentioned and the merchant gateway names  but also do a little research, the world is resplendent with opportunities! Go and get them. If anyone wants any help, names, addresses, etc. I will be happy to help. Hey one last thought on ebay/paypal, it has been quite kind of them to allow these posts to continue, frankly I am a little confused at that because it doesn't fit their current methodology of operations. May God bless each of you that have had to go through all of this and especially the people who were so hurt financially during the Christmas season. Oh one last thing, Meg Whitman is one of the good guys, she made ebay what it used to be, she is no longer there and I have heard she is not happy with the way things have gone, she is a good conservative with decent values. Don't take my word for it, call or write and ask her what she thinks of the situation with ebay/paypal. I hate to see a goof person get blamed for something they would not tolerate.

Hello rmc and thanks for your well thought out post!  You have it right,  some of us who sold thousands and stayed with ebay in the early days, continuing to sell, as they continued to raise fees, invent new gimmicks for more $$, and use unfair practices,, which I could relate but wont at this time.  The problem is they had no competition and selling online became a way of doing business and we didn't know what we could do, so we accepted all their changes in their favor and went along with it.  Now, you are faced with reinventing your business and starting over, but I do believe a mass exodus will be a good thing and I like the "NO LISTING FEES", dont you?

It will take time, send emails to your mailing list and tell them to come by your new site!

Tell all your friends, "We ar selling now on ____________".   Remember when you heard about selling on ebay?.. We WERE THEIR BEST ADVERTISING,, called word of mouth.

So, don't give up and be patient but keep the word out and it WILL WORK somewhere else.

I added up the losses, the fees and realized I was not making enough on ebay like so many told me, of  late and for the past 2 years we have been doing alot of business with people through we sites and  don't mean ebays web sites.    Yoiu have to link like minded sellers and you will build a network.

I am a Conservative, and I haVe Meg Whitman's web site, I will check it out.

Americans are free agents, want choices, like to try out new ideas and live adventurous lives.  WE WILL WIN!!

No more holds on on $$$$.   When I think about it, I  CAN"T BELIEVE This is REAL and go to PAYPAL and see that it is.!!!!!!!  At a time like this economic turn down, people in cold climates need their money due them and have to put  up  their money being held?    Who would  put money in A bank that would not deliever the money for 21 days?  Or hold  a check you sent for 6 dAys before they paid it????

So, Thanks AND KEEP IN TOUCH WITH US  SO WE KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON.   gIVE US THE NAME OF YOUR NEW WEB SITE ON ECRATER AND WE WILL SEE IF WE CAN FIND SOMETHING TO USE THERE.      Smiley Happy

Thanks for your insight and facts.  I started with eBay in 1998, but I am done and will make my statement by going elsewhere.  In the meantime, more of us need to speak out and  I am going to contact the FTC and my state representatives and we all should..  Isn't there something about fair business practice?  This is a monopoly that needs to get decent competition or get broken up like AT &T was years ago..  Customer service is horrid to non-existent, they require us to only use PayPal and not money orders and checks and they not only take their piece of our sales but now have the use of our money for 21 days. How about all the bad buyers (oh, I forgot, it is only bad sellers that they need to worry about ) that will buy our items, say there is a problem, get their money back and then won't send our items back, that is what I am afraid of.  The FTC needs to look at all these demands that eBay and PayPal are forcing on its real customers - its sellers and do something about these questionable new practices.

You are right in your action against the policies of paypal.

While you are at it, do you realize we pay a portion of the shipping fees to paypal, as well as the cost of the merchandise?

And, ranting will resolve nothing, unless it eases your pain to vent your anger.  However, MONEY TALKS and is the

only thing that talks and less ranting and more action is the only way to confront what we might call unfair practices!

We can rant and rave all day and feed $$$ and your rants will be ignored, scoffed at and create a laugh for the CO.

officials who set policies.

I have found most people in this world like to complain, rant and rave and do nothing.  This applies to political, and all other sources, they cling to.  I am not sure why, but I believe FEAR prevents people from acting on their rant.s

If you are depending on online auctions for your  livlihood,  You should never put all your eggs in one basket.

I received an email this morning from someone who told me she sells 10 times on Amazon what she sells on ebay

and has 1/4 the amount listed.   NOW, WHAT DOES THAT SAY?

I believe in exploring, creating, and taking risks by changing old worn out, tired habits and NEW YEARS is a good time to start.

Too many follow the crowd!!   It is like people that never try a new recipe and are always collecting good ones from their friends.   They don't want to waste their time or money on food until someone else proves it good.

KNOW ANY OF THOS KIND?  THEY ARE NOT MY TYPE.

The more we gripe, maybe they will listen. Get all your friends together and add to this topic.  you would think that a large frequency of posts might make somebody consider revoking this stupid policy. Remember that Ebay/Paypal is a business and we ultimately decide whether they will continue to have customers. I will now try to pay sellers through an alternate route.

To those of you who mentioned Ebay/Paypal alternatives in this topic, THANK YOU. For now, I'm going to the competition (do an Internet search - they're out there) to see what they offer. I hope the rest of you who are bothered by recent changes go out and find an alternative that works for you.  Let's get them to change this nonsense by not using them.

One of you needs to open a group at Yahoo, or MSN before this closes.  That way you can keep track of each other, and compare notes about the different sites you've investigated and maybe used.   It will ultimately save you all a bit of time investigating each of them.  When you find the best one you can throw your support behind it as a group, perhaps, if it turns out to be suitable to most everyone.  Stick together.  There's strength in numbers.

thomy, whoever sets up the group of X ebayers, please count us in.   We have been doing most of our buying elsewhere for several years.  Many people sent us to craigslist and it didn''t work for us, but it does for them!  We are back to other market places online as we were before  we decided to list a few things on ebay in December.

WE are not loyalists to anything that doesn't benefit us anymore  than Ebay or Paypal are loyalists to their old sellers.   WE sold thousands and thousands of HIGH END Jewelry, and other pricey items on ebay long ago for less than their value and it was ok then, but not now.   We had many bad experiences and decided we didn't need to put up with this and pay for it.

So, we are returning to our old habits and fishing around the internet for a good place to buy and sell and found one already.   We decided not to use the paypal funds being held to purchase online, (as paypal would like us to do).  In fact, we are buying using our credit card with Wells Fargo we have had since 1978., IT WORKS!  lol

When we can post freely at a new site, i will share some very interesting things with all of you.
