From Now On I Am Not Going To Ship Items If Funds Are On Hold.

Because the shipping costs are included in the funds.  If I have no access to the funds cause of the hold, then I have no access to the money the buyer pays for shipping.

I'm really frustrated because I just started selling on ebay and using paypal. I want to start selling internationally, but I won't have enough money in my account (or trust)  to spend my own paypal funds on shipping. I understand protecting the buyers, but not at the expense of **bleep**ing over the sellers. My buyer that I already shipped an item too and could decide to not leave me feedback and I'll never get my money and they could make off with a free item essentially.

That is exactly what happened to me with a phony buyer from England. Good luck.

yeah good point! All these people and sent complaints and not one response from Ebay/paypal.  What happened to lotus 123 is microsoft bought them and buried the company to remove the competition and replaced them with their access database software--part of the ms office package.

Well most recent update, 3 days ago today I had 2 items delivered, both people have failed to leave feedback, now I don't know about the rest of you however I tend to leave feedback pretty quickly.  Now this is my proof since people have a way to completely ignore the "No return policy" since **bleep** lets face it your selling something completely that is for the most part used, your not going to put a Warranty on it pawn shops don't why should you right?  I can understand returns when someone says I'm selling a Car CD deck and they send you a tape deck instead or any number of things, but people are using this Guaranteed 45 day return policy that Papal has instituted

This is pure BS, I worked in banking and I don't think you have the right to hold my funds after the buyer has released them to me. I need the funds to ship ON TIME so you don't ding me. You should PAY US A FEE for holding my funds, after all you have them on deposit and have transferred them from buyer????????????

You have the details of sale, why do you have to retain shipping amounts.

This is S***S

If anyone knows how to do business on Ebay without using paypal let me know.

I totally agree.  This is really frustrating.  My funds are also on hold for items that I offered "free shipping" for knowing that I would need to take it out of the payment from the customer.  My shipping charges for the items with funds on hold are nearly $100!!!!  I cannot afford to take that out of my personal funds.. I simply can't!

Paypal is really going too far with this!!!!  It's my money, it was my sale, How can they hold MY money  like that??

I've been a member of Paypal basically from when it started. I haven't used it lately but was surprised by a "hold" on $ from a transaction for the multitude of reasons Paypal suggested. "Its not that you've done something wrong...blah blah blah." Well I'm being treated as if I'm going to do something wrong and that is BS!!! This kind of nonsense will drive people like me away from this service (and Ebay as well) and I'm sure there a lot of people out there disgusted with this policy. It was awkward but Postal Money Orders worked very well in the past. The whole point of Paypal WAS convenience. Once that erodes then what's the point.

I can understand the underlying sentiment but the methodology is flawed:

- A hold should not restrict any shipping $s from a transaction since its the act of shipping that clears the hold.

- Funds that are withheld should be rewarded with a return of fees associates with the transaction once the funds clear.

- Let the buyer decide if they want a seller's funds held. If so then they should pay a fee to the seller on top of the transaction as a reward for the seller not being able to use the funds. THe buyer should make his or her decision on the trustworthiness of the seller based on the feedback of the seller. This assumes the Ebay feedback system is truthful???

- Let PayPal get insurance to cover funds from people they think will cheat the buyers. After all that is what they are saying, "We are holding your funds because we think you are going to cheat the buyer." Between Ebay and PayPal the fees are high enough to cover plus a reasonable profit.

- Potential buyers should insist on other forms of payment than PayPal.

Fortunately I only have a few more items to sell.

The original poster of this topic is correct.  THis new policy was intitiated by the dictatorial rulers here at this company without consulting any of their users, and now  IT DOES NOT EVEN WORK AS ADVERTISED.

I HAVE SHIPPED AN ITEM AND I HAVE PROOF OF DELIVERY AND STILL THEY WILL NOT RELEASE MY FUNDS TO ME AFTER MORE THAN 2 WEEKS, when after reading the so-called policy they stated that funds should be released within 11 days of when they were paid!!

THIS COMPANY ARE NOTHING BUT A BUNCH OF CROOKS WHO USE THEIR MONOPOLISTIC POWER TO ABUSE THEIR CUSTOMERS, JUST LIKE CREDIT CARD COMPANIES

Read my earlier postings about how to deal with them....as long as you have proof that the item was delivered by having the tracking number.
