Fees for non-profits

This may be a duplicate posting. Please forgive me. I represent a church which receives donations through PayPal. I cannot find a fee schedule showing what PayPal charges 501(c)3 charities. Assistance would be appreciated.

Re: Fees for non-profits

Hi Frodo59,

If you are a verified U.S. 501(c)3 charity you are eligible for discounted fees of 25% to 35% off published rate of 2.9% plus 30 cents.

Re: Fees for non-profits

Is it reasonable to also "send" money as a personal gift to a church by using their email address?  If I understand it correctly, this would avoid fees for both sender and receiver (if funded by a bank account).

Re: Fees for non-profits

Hi Amanda.  I just your reply about discounted fees for 501(c)3 organizations.  How do I go about setting up our organization to get the discounted fees???.

Re: Fees for non-profits

Did Paypal ever tell you how to sign up for the discount?

I am ready to begin selling for my charity, but can't get any straight answers......

Re: Fees for non-profits

Nope...no one has contacted me.   I tried calling these people and was on hold for 15 minutes, then I hung up.

It is amazing how they treat their customers, but again they are the 600 pound gorilla.

Re: Fees for non-profits

I just setup an account for my charity and found it quite easy.  here are the instruction i received after a request to customer service about getting non-profit setup in PayPal.

Hope this helps!

Here's how to begin accepting PayPal as a payment option on your
website:

For a U.S. based tax-deductible and tax-exempt organization, you'll need
to fax:

1. Evidence of tax exempt status or registration with any applicable
regulatory bodies, such as a §501(c)(3) Determination Letter.

OR

Proof of tax-deductibility with a subordination letter, illustrating the
account as a child of a larger, more national organization.

AND

2. A copy of a bank statement or voided check. The document must
include:
Your organization name and address pre-printed on it from each bank
account that you intend to add to your PayPal Account.

Each bank account that you add to your PayPal Account must be under the
ownership of the organization and cannot be a personal bank account.

If this is a tax-exempt only organization, you will need to provide:

1. Evidence of tax registration status and/or registration with any
applicable regulatory bodies governing your jurisdiction.

OR

Subordination letter, illustrating the account as the child of a larger,
more national organization.

AND

2. A copy of a bank statement or voided check  The document must
include:
Your organization name and address pre-printed on it from each bank
account that you intend to add to your PayPal Account.

Each bank account that you add to your PayPal Account must be under the
ownership of the organization and cannot be a personal bank account.

Any non-U.S. based organizations will need to provide:

1. Evidence of tax-exempt status and/or registration with any applicable
regulatory bodies governing the organization?s jurisdiction.
2. A copy of a bank statement or voided check (cheque) with the
organization name and organization address pre-printed on it from each
bank account that the organization intends to attach to the PayPal
Account (if applicable).
3. Link to confirm the organization's registration status online (if
applicable).
4. A brief organizational summary or Mission Statement.
5. Subordination letter from the parent organization (if applicable).

Here's how to find more information on nonprofits:

Go to the PayPal website and log in to your account.
Click "Business" at the top of the page.
Click "Nonprofits" at the top of the page.
