Dispute won but feel like I lost.

Hi,

I just had a buyer open a claim with "not as described"  and he wanted a partial refund.

This was a very rare item in perfect condition and this buyer bid and bid and bid on the item. It sold for a lot more that I ever expected.

I went to great trouble to pack and ship.

Anyway, My answer to him was that I was sorry he was unhappy but stood by my merchandise and offed a full refund.

Without one word he closes the dispute. And gives me negative feedback.

I feel that he tried to extort me and when I called his bluff and offered a full refund that was that.

So now I have my money but still lost because of the neg feedback.

I know it's been said a thousand times before but it just seems like something could be done to protect sellers from bad customers.

Well sorry to nudge in here, but couldn't help notice your question..I am a new ebayer BUT I heard in another discussion forum that you can request that ebay remove this negative feedback exspecially if you tell them you ofeered a refund on his money. I also know that you can respond to his negative feedback with a statement of your own that would be posted right below the negative feedback.

Don't apologize, I appreciate the input. I did post under his comment but it's bothering me so much I think I will go to Ebay.

Do you by any chance know how long a buyer has to ship an item to you??

It's my understanding that once the buyer closes a dispute he starts, it's over. He has accepted the item and the dispute can not be reopened.

He just gets the last shot at you as a seller with the feedback.

ebay won't remove the feedback - there's no evidence of feedback extortion.

Sorry you got a numpty, but it just goes with the territory.  The vast majority of buyers are good people - you just got an idiot, probably because he felt that he could bully a new seller around.

Be sure and put this person on your blocked list.

Oh, and just FYI - you did the right thing.

The buyer was trying a 'partial refund' scam on you.  The way to defeat those is to insist on the return of the item and then give a full refund.

I feel I did the right thing. Yes I'm new to Ebay but have been in business for many years.

We have had trouble with unreasonable people at our brick and mortar store over the years but they just go down the road. Sometimes it make me wonder if it's all worth the trouble, but your right that it goes with the territory.

I would be nice if PayPal kept track of buyers who open disputes on a regular basis.

Or if it's the last thing they are worried about?

Life goes on, but it sure makes me want to get some kind of revenge.

You can bet he is on my #!@% list, OOPS! blocked list

Oh Well!
