21 day hold funds released

Been a member for 10 years This has to be the most outrageous stunt yet . Anyways I received a 21 day hold on money I also needed to ship . Poor buyer I had no idea why that hold was there. Reading the community I learned I could not refund her money because it was in paypals hold account so the money refunded would actually come out of my own checking account . When it was not ever there. She was smart enought to figure out she had to leave me a positive before shipping and that automatically released the funds. Lets be honest how many buyers are going to leave you positive feedback before receiving the item . She was a godsend to me for sure. So now I walked away yesterday to decide my ebay/paypal fate. Not safe to really take this kind of chance of the 21 day hold. It is like ebay and paypal are trying to put their business in the trash . I am overwhelmed with this new trick . Is this not illegal to hold money for 21 days to get the interest off all of us. ?

Well I had a similar issue so maybe this gives you other options.

I shipped right away even though the funds were on hold, trusting that they would be released as soon as the buyer received the item and left me positive feedback. Well he never left me ANY feedback, positive or negative and I got Paypal to release the funds by calling them once I had proof of delivery and they had 3 extra days after the delivery confirmation (to make sure the buyer didn't leave me negative feedback or request a refund because he was returning the item). So I was all ready to wait the 21 days because this guy was never going to leave me feedback (I think he's waiting to see if I am going to leave him negative feedback first (see my other thread, "how long do I have to wait...")). So as long as you ship it right away and have a tracking number (f you ship USPS, even Parcel Post, ask for delivery confirmation) and can prove it was delivered then you can get the funds released 3 days after delivery confirmation  without waiting for positive feedback.

To clarify, when you issue a full refund to your customer using the refund link, the amount held on the transaction will be released and sent back to your buyer.

Amanda why is paypal holding our money now?

Why, when i call to ask about the 21 day hold, was I told that there is NO 21 day hold on items within the US (i was told this just today, a half hour ago)

Is it paypals hope and goal to get us callers so frustrated that our questions aren't being answered that we just hang up?

Why is paypal hanging us sellers out to dry? We shouldnt have to ship using money out of pocket before we have even received payment. What if the item gets delivered and the payment ends up being a chargeback?

Why is paypal also hanging buyers out to dry? For those sellers who dont have the cash to ship out of pocket, obviously they cant get the money from paypal, and as a buyer I simply am NOT willing to leave positive feedback before its due. Therefore I then have to wait 21 days or until the seller somehow gets the cash to ship.

They are crooks and unregulated which is hwy they hold teh money.  They cook there books!  By the way they are owned by ebay whihc has held my money in teh 10's of thousands before after I shipped teh products, proved my identity and finally had to get an attorney!  They need to be sued!
