stop pay after delivery

Recently when both buying and selling items from ebay, I have had no choice but to pay for items after the item has been delivered.

I have to pay the seller but the payment is put on hold until they have sent the item.  I have also had the same problem when selling goods; I have had to send the item first without recieving the buyers payment.  This is really annoying as I have no choice to opt out of this.  How can I change the settings so I can buy and sell items as normal without insisting that the item is recieved before payment is sent?

you are replying to a post that was years old by the moderator and also posting halfway through a thread which means your post could easily be missed.

Try this >>

1.Log into your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk.
2.Click the COG SYMBOL 'SETTINGS' near the top right of the page. (spanner thing next to log out).
3.Scroll down to 'Payment Settings'.
4.Click 'Pay after Delivery',
5.Under 'Paying after delivery is my preferred way to pay', click 'Turn this option off'.

Ditto, i never use it either, i prefer to fund my paypal payments via a credit card for extra protection.

Many thanks for this information update Kernow Lass.

I thought I had gone through the process of opting out some weeks back but it seems to have defauted again on a purchase of only £1, generating tons of "paperwork".  This default really is a huge inconvenience, complication and danger to users.

If anyone is listening out there :

Please be polite and respectful to your customers Pay Pal and remove this as a default . Give us the option to opt in not have to opt out. 

If customers move away, staff will get laid off.  Thank you, in anticipation.

There are no payment settings. Just Payments. When I go there, there is no button/link/whatever to disable this pay after delivery thing.

I AM TIRED OF THIS CRAP!!! HOW DO I DISABLE THIS PAY AFTER DELIVERY NONSENSE?

Hi Paula,

I have the "Pay After Delivery" option turned off yet I am still having some purchase transactions set up with this option - why is this?  The "Pay After Delivery" option in my profile is set to OFF.  Most annoying!

This appears to be an ongoing glitch happening to quite a few people.

Try this first   >>>

To change the default way you pay for purchases:

1.Log into your PayPal account at www.paypal.co.uk.
2.Click the COG SYMBOL 'SETTINGS' near the top right of the page. (spanner thing next to log out).
3.Scroll down to 'Payment Settings'.
4.Click 'Pay after Delivery',
5.Under 'Paying after delivery is my preferred way to pay', click 'Turn this option off'.

If its already on OFF then i have a few suggestions.

If you have paid with paypal and want to make it instant then just go and click on the transactions and there should be an option on the ''details'' page to click to pay it instantly per transaction.

OR add a debit card to your account that takes the funds the same from your bank account and then click ''change'' during checkout to use a card instead on a transaction by transaction basis as PAD ONLY works with your bank account via instant bank transfer and not with a card.

There is no pay after delivery option in the payments section. It's on by default and I can't turn it off. If I didn't have pre-approved payments, I would cancel paypal. Guess I'll have to go back to my regular debit card from now on. GRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!

Hi Paula

I've suddenly started getting emails saying that paypal are going to charge me after delivery for things. I dont want this, its suddenly come from nowhere. I've tried doing what you state in your email but everything is already defaulted to 'no' for this option.  I've changed it to 'yes' and back to 'no' but im still stuck with paying after delivery.

Is there anything else I can use? other than stopping using paypal which i''m seriously considering!
