Hello, I'm selling an item on gumtree and someone further afield wants to buy it. They are happy to pay via paypal upfront which I know is a risk on their behalf but I'm honest so not a problem. I gave the person my email and he said he had sent payment as a gift. No email from PayPal so I checked my PayPal account, nothing. The guy then sent me a screenshot proving he sent it and it's sat at pending. He said I need to accept at my end. Can anyone advise please? Thank you

Yes i would advise you NOT to go ahead.
A buyer can't open a Paypal dispute if they pay via the friends / family option as they have no buyer protection.
However they can do a 'chargeback' via their card issuer OR file for an 'unauthorised transaction' and as you accepted a f/f payment then you would have no seller protection.
As its against Paypal rules to accept payment for sales using the friends / family option you also risk having your Paypal account permanently limited.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.
