Seller Protection for Digital Sales

Hi,

I sell downloads for computer games through my own website. All sales go through paypal and all orders are sent out as file attachments via email.

If the customer is new I always email them for confirmation they are happy to proceed with the order.

I have just had a case where a new customer purchased some items from me using paypal, I emailed him to check that he was happy to proceed with the order.

He confirmed he was. I sent the files to him as two attachments in separate emails.

Two weeks later he puts in a claim to paypal that someone else used his card without his permission.

Paypal have refunded the card and charged me 50% of the sales cost for dealing with the case.

So my question is, as I did absolutely nothing wrong but have ended up losing my none returnable goods and been charged 50% of the sales price is there anything I can do to protect myself from this happening again?

If I had used something similar to yousendit with proof that I sent the files and the email address used to make payment through paypal received the files would it make any difference to protecting me?

Any help much appreciated.

You have no paypal seller protection for 'virtual items' .

You can sell them but unfortunately at your own risk.
