I have a channel on Youtube that is getting good views and has recently begun monetisation via advertising, but it really needs new content. That is going to cost and it's not earning much. I'm looking to raise funds for new production equipment and to cover expenses to make new content, as myself and not a business.
I've seen people add a PayPal dot Me link to accept donations, NOT as a charitable or not-for-profit organisation. I've asked in the Youtube community about this and now PayPal too - would I be breaking PayPal policy or Terms of Service if, in the Description field of a popular video, I asked for voluntary paid contributions and linked to PayPal.Me? I would make it clear that it'd be for my use and not donated to charity or a not-for-profit organisation (or a business either). Someone suggested it could be considered spam if I added the link without permission. So far I can't find anything that says it's not permitted, but I want to make a reasonable effort to find out first.
The purpose of the request would be to raise funds for new video and audio equipment for making video content to monetise on Youtube, for my personal benefit, and to cover expenses such as travel. For the next video I want to make I specifically need money for travel expenses. Also to buy the type of equipment featured in the videos (sporting/leisure), to feature in new content. In no way would I imply that I was collecting for charity or for anything but my own use.
