Is it safe to give my PayPal email address to someone who wants to send me money?

I posted an electronic item for sale online. I received a text from someone saying they are interested in buying it, but that they want me to ship it overseas, and will pay extra to cover the postage and fees.  They stated they would like to use PayPal for paying me.

They asked me to send them a money request to their PayPal ID.

Am I safe logging in and sending them a request for money?  Will they be able to access my personal information, bank information and other private details by sending them a request for money?  Will I be given an address through the funds transfer that PayPal will protect me shipping to them?

I hate to turn away someone who is legitimately wanting to buy my item, but at the same time, I didn't expect to have to ship it internationally.  I've only used PayPal for eBay auctions and never as a stand alone money transfer.

Thanks for your reply!

NO NO NO! Don't fall for this scam.  No one can access your banking information through PayPal but you.  If I am correct, this person is a scammer.  I would be super skeptical of anyone from another country offering to buy things from you.  What country are they claiming to be from?  Even people in the states are crooks that will trick you into sending them an item, or sending money western union.  It is better to be safe than sorry!  I almost got caught up in such a scam.

Thanks for the feedback!

I did a bit of research and Google'd the given PayPal ID to send a request for money, and the number I was receiving texts from.  Both came back seeminly attached to the same individual scamming people to send products to Nigeria.

Glad I checked!
