Ebay phishing?

I have now twice tried to purchase items on eBay, clicked on pay-by-paypal, and then had a screen come up telling me need to verify credit card information, including social security number, on line to access Paypal. This shows up even before I am logged into my paypal account. What's up with that? It looks way bogus to me!!!!!! (Both items were handbags but were from different sellers. I didn't go thru with the transactions.)

Bearra55- Well, what you're describing is something we might do to verify your identity, as a security measure. It's the 'logins' that ask for information we wouldn't have, like credit card PIN numbers, that concern me. In this case, to be completely sure, you can give us a call and we can look over your account and verify we're trying to verify you. 🙂
