Why did Paypal open a dispute for my transaction?

I recently made a transaction using Paypal on a computer other than the one I usually use, and Paypal sent me an email telling me that there was a possible unauthorized usage on my account and I need to confirm myself. So I had to login to paypal from home, and enter my banking information, and had to get paypal to call my home phone to confirm my location. All this, and Paypal also opened a dispute with the company I made a transaction with, and now I have to wait for that company to contact Paypal about it.
My question to this is, why did Paypal suddenly believe that I was performing an authorized transaction just simply because I was away from home when performing this transaction? And what exactly was this company told about said "unauthorized transaction" so I know if they'll reject my payment?
Regards

More than likely the reason you were flagged is there was another PP user who used the IP address which you logged in from. The same lockdown would more than likely occur if someone tried to use multiple credit cards from the same computer within a few minutes of each other.
A simple phone call to PP will have them release the payment and return everything to as it should be. If you fail to phone PP to clear up the charge they may reverse it back to you for security reasons.
There phone number can be found on the contact us button after you login. My other advice would be if you are calling, be sure to ask for a U.S. call center. The Malaysian call center is terrible.......

Glad to help 😉
If you have a newer phone you may be able to use a PP app to make payments so this doesn't happen again as your phone has a pretty unique IP address.
