I sold a cue shaft to an Australian buyer. This guy contacted me and told me he's interested in the shaft and would love to pay $150 to purchase it. So, I checked his account information, it appears he just registered this account right before contacting me. But I didn't think that too much! Then, I sold it, shipped it and when he received the item, he claimed there are a few dents on it (I have already stated it's a used shaft in my description!!!) and he wanted refund. Apparently, i didn't agree. so he filed a dispute and I suddenly escalated it to a Claim! I uploaded the pictures I used in the listings and stated the fact to the resolution center. But, in less than 10 days, they replied me by granting the refund. This guy never used this account again after making the purchase with me. Apparently, he is a fraud. How simple it is! But, Paypal, however, decided to let him win! Has anyone in PAYPAL paid any attention to a simple fraud Case??!! OR, just wait for a few days, and "protect" the buyer whatever the truth is!!! What a GREAT company! Hope you could be in the TOP 500 COMPANIES by "protecting" your fraud buyers!

I see Paypal doesn't protect its sellers. They should really just say if there is a claim against you too bad for you & deal with the fact that you have been robbed and will NOT get any fair case review . I am in a going through a situation right now where I sold an item I KNOW the item was in proper working condition with NOTHING missing a claim was filed saying that item had missing pieces on the controller and was damaged and NOW they are suppose to mail me back the item which I was discussing with my huband which prob. taken apart and taken what they wanted and now send it back(if I even get an item back and not just an empty box) and now I have to pay them for robbing me. It doesn't matter if you have a good record as a seller for a long time with no worries the buyer will win and you are the one left voliated and there is nothing we can do. Once I pay this theif my money I will be closing my ebay and paypal account I see NO benefits in keeping either accounts if I can just as easliy be robbed at least my C.C Company will protect me if anything goes on. I am sorry for your situation as well.

From a buyer's perspective, I can tell you they aren't helpful at all either. It seems you get shafted on either side of the issue.

Same problem here. Paypal 'says' they investigate. Why do they even say that? There is no investigation.... they automatically side with the buyer. I've bought and sold on ebay since ebay was brand new.... I think 1994 or 95. This buy who bought from me had been on ebay for less than a month and had a feedback rating a whole 1!!! And they took the full amount from my account and refunded her! Now, I ask that the buyer send my items back and she said to me that he would only send items back to me if I paid for her shipping!!!!!! I'm just about ready to close my ebay and paypal account.
SO UNFAIR TO SELLERS!! SHAME ON YOU PAYPAL!!!

Totally agree. The customer service guy from Paypal told me they would look up into the case based on the evidence provided by both parties. I uploaded three pics I used in my listing to prove against "Items not as described". But, that guy, never showed any proof of anything. He just said the items not as described, but didn't prove what he said. I dont get it, why Paypal would ever believe a lie instead of the truth!!!!!!! What a SHAME!!!

Less than 10 days they made the decision? Well at least they made it SEEM as though they were reviewing it.
My case was decided in LESS THAN ONE DAY !!! My buyer was issued a full refund, & I was never asked for any imput to help in the resolution !
It is quite obvious to me that Paypal does not do much (if any) research regarding their decisions.

Same here.If only they had read the ebay listing for the item I was selling, they couldn't have sided with the buyer (buyer was expecting a 3D laptop when nowehere in my listing did I mention it was one).
I filled a complain with the BBB. A lady from Paypal then called me a couple days ago to follow up on that. Basically she told me (in nicer words) to deal with it, it is part of doing business (even selling a pair of socks on ebay is doing business according to her) and you must expect some losses from time to time because of dishonest buyers.
She say she don't see that changing in the future.

gabrieth... PayPal CS also told me as a merchant that fraud loss is a part of business. I think recovery/recourse/investigation should be a part of business as well.... but its not around here!
Generally, I see this assumed of the account holders (including myself):
A PayPal verified merchant with 6-digits in sales history over 7+ years, and a good public reputation, linked bank accounts and cards, confirmed address and phone, willing to go the extra mile by finding/uploading evidence and calling PayPal CS ....
.
A stranger that signed up for PayPal yesterday and clicks "dispute this charge" .....
.
Gah!
