I am very dissapointed with paypals chargeback response. When I sold the item it said plainly no returns sales final and even ebay ruled in my favor that the customer had no leg to stand on and ruled in my favor! PayPal done nothing for me at all and now the customer has my product and I am out the $600. So I paid the customer to take my item and had to pay the fees associated with selling item on ebay so I literally sold my item to the customer for $-800 and all I get is a piece of paper thanks for nothing!!!!!

Hi remains_unseen,
It appears that since the Help Center redesign, that link no longer goes directly to the contact us screen. Serves me right for posting shortcuts!
If this link doesn't do it, just click "Contact Us" at the bottom of any PayPal page.

Hi Olivia-
Things have been improving. I received a new email from PP saying to disregard the previous judgement and that they recognized I did indeed act as a responsible seller. Because of this, they are now stating:
Because you followed the guidelines of the seller protection policy,
though, PayPal will cover the amount of the chargeback.
While I am happy that Paypal is taking this step, my only question left is how long generally will it take Paypal to make this reimbursement to my account? I still have the large negative balance in my account from the dispute process and the charge for PP to 'investigate on my behalf.' (I have not attempted to use my account in any other way since the process began so that things wouldn't get complicated)
Any info you can give me would be appreciated. The customer service rep on the phone was slightly less than helfpul, stating something along the lines of "uh, yeah, just give it some time I guess. Maybe a week?" His response didn't exactly inspire confidence in me so I was hoping you'd provide some more clarity as you've been helpful so far.

Hi remains_unseen,
Typically, the funds are back in your PayPal account within 2-5 business days. Usually it's on the 2 days end of the spectrum, but it can take up to a week.

Received the refund as promised on day 3 and things seem to be back to normal. Is there anything else in a chargeback process that can still take place, or is this definitely now 'case closed,' and no further actions can be taken by the buyer/Paypal/myself?
Basically, can I go back to using my Paypal like normal at this point without fear of any unexpected or surprise withdrawals/charges and the like relating to this transaction dispute?
Just wanted to also say thanks, Olivia, for sending me timely responses during the course of this.

Well done, Its a pity Olivia wasnt looking into my case, as I have got absolutely nowhere. Just robbed by the buyer and by Ebay / Pay Pal.
Still looking at all the larger amounts that people are losing as sellers, my amount is minimal.
I just will not trust either of them again.

I didn't wave a magic wand or anything! All I did was answer some general questions and offer some links for additional information! 🙂 All of my responses have been based on the information we discussed here. I'm always happy to help with information and insight whenever I can! If there's a question I can answer for you, I sure will.

I'm very happy that it worked out for you! According to that snippet you posted, the determination was made to cover you based on Seller Protection because your item showed delivery, so you're in good shape. Go forth and profit!!

The problem is this. I have direct proof and have uploaded 10 files of this proof that the buyer himself purchased the item I mailed to him. I have copies of the original shipping label with his name and address on it and an email from him asking for the item in white.
There can be no doubt he ordered the item, and I have the online tracking number to show it was sent to his country. I also have emails, uploaded, that show he did email me once claiming the item had not arrived yet. This all from his account with his name on it; which I am sure matches the name on the credit card used.
Nevertheless, he had the payment refunded by his credit card company claiming an unauthorized payment and I am betting PayPal will side with him ignoring the ample amount of proof I have that he made the purchase himself and because he claims he did not receive it, is now saying instead it was an unauthorized payment.

Here is what happend with me- the buyer opened a case on e-bay and i won, after that she did a chargeback with her CC company ( i only accept paypal on my ebay) and after providing all the evidence they still decided the case in her favor. Here is the problem- i dont understand why paypal believes the buyer when she said the item not as described or damaged??? I provided proof that she got exactly what my ebay decription said. And now they gave her the money back, i dont have the item ( $150 value) and the buyer is not responding to my emails. Paypal tells me i am not covered under sellers protection because of the chargeback. So what do i do? No item, no money??
P.S she bought it on Dec 15 and opened a case on Han 29th......she had the item over a month......and yesterday they gave her the money back...
Thanks

It's not that Paypal believes the buyer and ebay believes you, paypal didnt decide to chargeback, the buyers cc company did. Paypal does not want chargebacks to go through on you because it costs them money too, they have a whole team to fight for you, and if you didnt send them any proof you had, or if the proof wasn't good enough, then you're out!
