wrong name used to sign up, paypal asking for more information and id.

Hi, i have been selling some stuff on ebay for a bit and today i just got an email from paypal saying they need more information from me. i'm worried because when i signed up autofill wrote in my name that was misspelled and my last name was my non legal name. i have been going by that name for years and i didn't really think anything of it at the time so i went with it. when i upload my id what will it say? i have contacted paypal and i'm waiting for a reply but i have money pending in my balance and orders to fulfil. i have added my bank account and a debit card that are in my legal name so i don't know if that will allow the id or not. can somebody tell me if they have had the same problem, i'm very new to dropshipping and i should have thought of this before i started using this paypal account that is not correct to my name. thank you.

If the name on ID don't match name on PayPal account, they will reject it. Since your account is limited, you can't change name or perhaps see if you can try to Update Name in the account settings. If you don't provide proof, eventually PayPal will permanently limit the account and say you can't use PayPal anymore and have to wait 180 days to withdraw any funds remaining in your account after any disputes where PayPal will email you that you can withdraw. ID is also needed so I don't know, the funds could be stuck in there. Even if it is autofill, I'd make sure the name is correct especially when it comes to money, don't want the funds to go to some fictitious person. Hope it wasn't a lot of money. If a lot, it may be worth it to get a solicitor on the case to help you.

Thanks for the reply. I do see the option to do a full name change from a nickname, and i have just used the thing were you can correct 1-2 mistakes. My first name is now correct and i have to get past the last name. It says to upload:

1. A copy of a government-issued photo identification (ID) that shows your entire face and an ID number.
2. A copy of 1 of the following documents:
   • A recent utility bill showing your new name and address exactly as they appear on your PayPal account.
   • A recent financial statement for the bank account attached to your PayPal account. Make sure it shows your correct name and your current address.
   • A recent proof of residency document that shows your correct name and your current address.

so hopefully this works, i have ordered a bank statement to be sent. It does say change it to "use your full name instead of a nickname" so it sounds like they are aware of people using incorrect names when they sign up. do you think this will work if i provided them with the correct documents which shows my real name, as my first name is now correct on my PayPal. And it wasn't a whole lot of money, it is around £50.
