Weird shipping info from merchant

Purchased a product online and checked out with PayPal 42 days ago. The shipping info was blank until I just checked. The tracking number the merchant provided is a tracking number of an item I purchased online a month ago from a different website and merchant. Has anyone had this issue at all? I sent an email to the merchant but I haven’t heard back yet. I had sent an email at purchase for a tracing number as well and I have not had a response, just the info had been updated on USPS. Anyone seen this?

I recommend filing a dispute with your credit card issuer if that is how you paid. You can dispute through PayPal but the concern is that the system won't initially do a deeper investigation to realize the tracking number is fraudulent. Maybe the merchant is not as different as it appears because where would this merchant get this tracking number from? It's sketchy. And so you'll have to appeal after the system denies the claim due to having a 'tracking number' as proof of delivery. Any other time I will say dispute through PayPal but due to limited staff, they're rather difficult to get a hold of now, to even appeal.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂

Thank you so much. I’ll file A dispute now. I paid with the money in my paypal account so I’m not sure who else other than PayPal I can get involved with.

I had the same thing happen to me. The seller added a shipping tracking number for an item that I ordered Mid May, when I click the link it shows tracking for an item that I ordered and had delivered In April.... Super sketchy. I filed a dispute, and great old PayPal denied my claim even tho I sent screenshots of everything. Smh. 65.00 down the drain..

Really? I hate that it happened to you as well and that’s what I was afraid to hear. Do you have info on the merchant and so on? This might be the same person?
