Paypal and GDPR?

Hey everyone,

I made a post about a week ago regarding my account being permanently limited. I've been through phone support and they won't do anything about my situation.

At this point I just want to close the account and remove all information on it. Now since they won't allow me to close the account can I somehow do this through GDPR? Are Paypal compliant to GDPR within the EU (or the UK)? It's been an absolute headache trying to sort this out. I've had the account for 9 years and out of the blue they blocked it last week.

From my understanding GDPR gives me the right to have control over my information and how it is used, so could this help me in anyway to completely close my account?

Any help would be appreciated. I'm pretty much at a loss.

Did you manage to sort this out ? I am facing the same issue. I am requesting my data be purged and they are refusing. Have you taken this to the ombudsman ? Not sure now that UK is no longer part of EU whether they are adhering to GDPR or have gone rogue.

Unfortunately I was never able to sort it out. I’m extremely angry with Paypal as they are refusing to delete my information even while trying to use GDPR. I’m not sure why they refuse to wipe my information if my account is permanently limited.
