Paid for tickets using paypal. Tickets are fake. How do I get refund from the individual?

Bought two tickets from an individual via paypal. When the tickets arrived, I forwarded them to the venue to check they were genuine. They're for my other half's 30th birthday, so spent time and care before buying them. What I failed to check were particular details, checked by venue. The tickets are fake so I need to request a refund. Pay pal dont seem to want to let me. I have contacted the seller, but, no surprise, he's ghosted me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello @Turtlehut456,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our Community Help Forum!

I am sorry to know about what has happened. If you purchased something and would like a refund because the item is not as described, you can file a dispute in our Resolution Center to start the process of getting your money back. You have 180 days from the transaction date to initiate a dispute. Please check this link to know more information. If you're not happy with the decision of the dispute, you can certainly appeal the case by selecting a closed case in the resolution center within 10 days from the dispute closed date.

I hope this helps.

Ayesha

I did raise it so it would appear I cant re raise it now. I have messaged the seller repeatedly and he sent me a screenshot saying it had been returned, but the screenshot had no timestamps or details. I think it was just a picture of a successful return, taken from google 😞 I'd like to re raise it. It's the while reason I went with PayPal to pay the chap, I thought I'd be helped if it did go wrong.

Or you also have the option to do a chargeback via your card issuer if you lose your paypal dispute.
